LeBron James should have at least went for TacoTuesday.com

November 20, 2019 by Raymond Hackney

Back in September LeBron James had his trademark request for “Taco Tuesday” denied.

ESPN reported that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office refused the application filed by James’ company LBJ Trademarks, explaining that “Taco Tuesday” is “a commonplace term.”

In my opinion he should have at least secured the TacoTuesday.com domain name.

TacoTuesday.com has now changed hands.

The OC Restaurant Association said it’s bought the domain TacoTuesday.com in what will, in the near term, be a marketing play for restaurants before eventually monetizing parts of the site.

Free listings will be open to anyone and restaurants can create their own profile on the Taco Tuesday site. Listings will stay free, but Waitt said the longer term goal would be to generate revenue in other areas, such as an enhanced listing or as a conduit for potential pop-ups or collaborations between restaurants.

No mention on price, the domain was owned by a company called, Tortilla Flats out of California. Registered in 1997.

Brandon, I’m glad you are not a financial adviser. A simple Google trends search will show you that the term Taco Tuesday has had huge growth over the last two decades, long before LeBron James mentioned the phrase.

      Stay happy.
