Making an offer on a domain $19.95, The counter offer Priceless

April 10, 2019 by Raymond Hackney

So a member over at Namepros posted that he paid $19.95 to make an offer through Domain Agents on the name Dispensary.best and the counter was $100,000 on his mid three figure offer.

Some commenters felt that $19.95 was too much for the domain, to each their own, but my question is would you pay $19.95 to make an offer on a new gtld?

Then the owner of this blog, Michael Berkens has to be one of the biggest suckers in the world. He paid big bucks for big names.

If everyone drops or not reg the dot whatever, dot com will rise in value.

Stop wasting your money or being a dot whatever sucker.

Your mindset is awful, in my opinion. Because you don’t invest in new gTLDs, you try your best to defame and malign new gTLDs in the hope of your .com investment to rise in value.

I suggest that you “.com warriors” stop being disrespectful as that only makes you less professional.

I get horrible offers all the time through domainagents. I decline and cancel negotiations 99% of the time. Its always $199…

    JZ,
I have to agree with you, The offers usually are low, or if you can finally agree on price, it takes a while to conclude the transaction via escrow.com.
I received some offers this week, and I didn’t even bother to counter

On another note, I wasn’t aware Michael B invested in the GTLDs — quite a surprise.

Mike probably has one of the 3 best portfolios owned by a private investor, non registry owner.

Yes, I believe he got stuck with them after GoDaddy said “NO!” to buying any gtld .crap

It is very telling that they only wanted to buy his .com

After all, they know what is in demand…and it was definitely not his new .crapollas

Hate dealing with buyer brokers. And don’t bother trying to be undercover about it, brokers.

Not even worth a nickel. Who allowed them to come onto the market and why? Horribly bad idea. Better with nothing.

SOME ARE GOOD, MOST ARE USELESS. NOBODY WILL HAVE MONEY TO PAY FOR REST OF YOUR LIFE.

I REGISTERED MY FAMILY NAME, WIFE’S & KID’S NAMES WHICH I BEEN TRYING IN .COM’S FOR 22 YEARS. I AM GOING TO KEEP THEM FOR EVER.

    SAFIA
    SADIA
    NADIA
    SONIA
    AHMED
    AHMAD
    RANA
    NOOR
    SOFIA

CAN WE PLEASE EXPOSE THE .GLOBAL REGISTRY?!!?
All of their sales (huge sales) all are made within the registry and are all for the same prices of $2400, $4800, or $8000. They are obviously buying the names themselves so it looks like they have sales. This should be illegal. It made me think that real sales were being made, so I bought names like airfare.global….which sounds like a great domain but will probably never sell. WTF.

TRUE. MOST ARE BUYING & SELLING NAMES BETWEEN THEMSELVES.

      .global, .workd, .whatyouwant.
      All the same.
Are years that I’m trying to sell 1 word newG, no premium, at $XXX.
      Never had any sale.
Stick to .com is the rule.

If you want the domain, than sure…the issue isn’t “would you”…the issue is whether the service provided has value, not the specific extension.

I have had people try to buy domains I use.

    I turn them down.

Then get an offer via DA which I turn down because I already turned down the offer.

A broker isn’t going to change the answer (at least not without a significant change in the offer) and if you contacted directly already, why are you now paying someone to “facilitate” contact?

I was going to buy a car once but wanted to get it checked out by my mechanic who is real good,he charged 50 bucks ,I dident buy the car because he said it would neeed too much work . He said I can bring him up to 2 more cars and he would not charge. So if they did something like that I think it would be fair.Sometimes you have no choice if its the only outlet to buy the domain and its under privacy
