Verisign: .Com Domains Back Over 128 Million

Verisign the who operates the .com domain name registry is reporting today that the number of domain names in the .Com Domain Name Base is once again over 128 million domain names.

Back in September 2016 the number of .Com’s in the Domain Name Base passed 128 million for the first time.

However do to the large amount of speculative domain registrations in the 4th Q of 2015 which dropped in the 2016 early 2017.

In December 2016, Verisign reported that the Domain Name Base dropped below 127 Million.

“For the record, Verisign defines the Domain Name Base β€œis the active zone plus the number of domain names that are registered but not configured for use in the respective Top-Level Domain zone file plus the number of domain names that are in a client or server hold status.”
