The SnapNames.com/Moniker Spring Showcase Auction ends at 3:15pm today and as of publication there are 18 domain names that have bids including:
Mama.com $155,000
MovingCompany.com $150,000
Sly.com $50,000
None of those domain names have hit reserve.
There are 10 domains that have hit reserve and will sell.
We wish all the Seller and Bidders the best of luck
Wow…I’d be shocked if MovingCompany.com sold for less than $1 million.
Worthless bids!!!
All dysfunctional!!
Halvarez returns from the dead?
LOL
When you google any of these names, they will be associated with shill bidding.. I wouldn’t want to touch any of them for investment purposes.
I’ve never understood the merits of taking a domain to auction. Even if it takes 20 years, would it not make much more sense to wait for an end-user to come to you, or approach end-users and try to sell? Do these guys who push premium domains to auction need the cash that badly?
Hyper
The short answer is yes there are people that do need the money and don’t have 20 years to wait
There was a day and time where premium domains sold for premium prices.
There were Moniker live auctions at TRAFFIC that did $5M+ and $10M+
Operative word is “were”
Wouldn’t consider one bidder on MovingCompany a fierce battle to acquire a domain name some think is valued at above $1 million. Most moving companies can invest less with using a GEO and moving, their company name and moving and another domain that cost less than $100-250K price range.
Most local moving companies can afford to invest that much money in a domain name. Their local moving company earns good revenue, but not enough to endure a 6-figure investment.
correction: Most moving companies can’t afford to invest 6-figures in a domain name. However, the domain name is a good investment to develop a moving directory.IMO, huge investment and major risk to take.

Big dose of reality that most domainers don’t want to hear .

I remember listing domains in Monikers auctions…lots of offers right below my reserve as if someone knew. Probably coincidence.

It is common knowledge that’s the way the Moniker auctioneer operated. He would point off into the crowd and call out bids from the air. Slimy operation.
While these results were a disappointing for auction day , we do have some nice offers that occurred both online and offline that will sell and make the event a success.Every single auction run buy Moniker :Snapnames in the last couple of years has produced close to or well above 7 figures -when you take into account the total picture. Published sales social.com, answer.com , jackpot.com, data.com and others that were not reported but that sold for high 6 and low 7 figures over the last couple of years, plus many other 6 and 7 figure sales that were not published, demonstrate that the Moniker auctions are still an effective tool for buying and selling premium domains and names at all levels. It is not a pure coincidence to see a lot of sales including some monster sales happen right before, during, or after an auction. I expect many names in this auction will soon have new owners judging the on and offline activity.
