The Registry For .MX LOWERS The Price

January 18, 2010 by Michael Berkens

NIC Mexico, the organization that manages the .MX ccTLD, announced a price reduction on domain names registrations and renewals for .MX domains to $40 a year.

The company says that new rates go into effect on February 1st, 2010.

Please note while rates have dropped at the registry level, retail prices are set by Accredited Registrars, who will hopefully pass the savings along.

According to the statement of the registry there were  382,549 .MX domain registrations at the end 2009.

Its interesting to note that a few .mx domains sold in the DomainingTips.com auction held at Snapnames.com last week and some more .mx domain names are scheduled to be auctioned at the TRAFFIC show by RickLatona.com, next week

Its nice to see a registry lowering prices for a change. (Hello VeriSign)

I registered domains at $35 per year at NIC.MX, that’s higher from the original price.

Good news – always like to see reg fees go down, I assume registrars will pass all or some of the savings on. I own a few .mx, it’s a country of over 100 million right next to the US, so there’s some potential there for sure.
