NameJet Hauls In $500K In 1st Day .CM Auctions & That’s Only For The Domains On My List

September 1, 2009 by Michael Berkens

As you know the first of 9 days of .CM auctions at closed at NameJet.com today with Hotels.cm and Sex.cm leading the pack.

For just the .Cm domains I had on my list, NameJet.com hauled in $486K.

Namejet.com said they had 4,500 .cm domains going to auction and I only had 200 on my list.

My list therefore reflects only 5% of all .cm auctions, although I’m pretty sure I have many of the high sale domains on my radar.

No matter how you feel about .CM domains, you have to be impressed with the amount of cash spent today on domains.

If I tracked almost $500K lets assume another $250K for the other 450 auctions I did not have on my list which had a $50 Minimum.

So much for wondering if domainers will spend their money at auctions.

Auction houses take note:

If domainer’s perceive value, there is plenty of money in the domain space for acquisitions.

Personally I bought 3 domains today, which will go nameless, while the .CM auctions are still ongoing.

Here are the .cm domains that I tracked today.

Interesting to note the second domain and last name on this list, and the difference in price.

Why so much for taobao.cm ? It is 100% chinese traffic. Not so easy to monetize.

Impressive. Relative to the other top sales a few names stick out as serious deals, primarily Insurance.cm. Well played sir.

    Hi Mikey,

Is there still an open list of unpurchased .CM’s? I considered them, but said “nahhh… I’m not into the mistypes”. However, this looks like there could be a nice amount of healthy bargains. Where do I go to see the rest of the .CM list yet to be sold on Namejet?

    Thx broey

@stephen douglas: You can only bid on .CM names which you have preordered during landrush

    Domainers is right.

All the namejet CM auctions are opened to just those who backorder those particular domains.

I do hear through the grapevine that some of the domains that went unsold at the RickLatona.com .CM auction may make a return appearance at the TRAFFIC show, but that is very unofficial

Also you will have a chance to directly register domains once the “Golive” finally goes live.

There were only 11K domains preordered so there is a lot of domains out there that might be worth the registration fee, which will probably be a low as around $100 for a one year registration.

Not sure I understand the valuations here. It seems that .cms get ~0.18% of the traffic the corresponding .com gets based on the analysis on google.com and google.cm. for 100,000 .com hits this would mean 180 .cm hits. Not worth it in my opinion as the second MOST visitors realize they have come to hotels.cm and not hotels.com, they will back off the page.

    Google.com 147,085,194 U.S. visitors
    Google.cm 273,236 U.S. visitors per month
    =0.18%

    auction.cm
    auctions.cm
    hosting.cm
    webhosting.cm
    market.cm
    trade.cm

Don’t ask how much, who what or how, except know this, I am going to be living off crackers for a while. Oh damn, I keep forgetting the $350 fee on top the auction price…so much for affording them crackers!
