All in All Trust in Domaining Looks Good

July 11, 2016 by Raymond Hackney

We have written about how much domain industry participants believe what they read and hear. The numbers were mixed with a fair number of people coming in around 50%. A recent study published by the Pew Research Center shows that trust is down all over the place. For those who get news from social media trust is abysmal with only 4% of adults polled saying they trust it a lot. National news … [Read more...]

June 11, 2016 by Raymond Hackney

Fox13News.com out of Tampa did a story on Julie Magill a Tampa resident who deals in real estate. (Tip of the cap to Namepros member NSmith91). Julie made a $9 bet on a hunch three years ago that could pay off big. Julie went and heard Donald Trump give a speech and walked away thinking that Mr. Trump could one day run for President. From the article: Magill has received offers for the domain … [Read more...]

June 9, 2016 by Raymond Hackney

Radix has some news out today that the Consumer Electronics Show or CES has made the move from CESWEB.org to CES.Tech. This is a sensible change as CESWEB is a bit clunky. CES.com does not resolve and CES.org is a developed website for Cooperative Educational Services. Here is the release: Radix Registry today announced that the Consumer Electronics Show (popularly known as CES) has … [Read more...]

Money wasted all around

May 25, 2016 by Raymond Hackney

A very easy UDRP decision came down on Spiriva.top. I see this name a lot because my Father uses it for C.O.P.D. The tm holder BOEHRINGER Ingelheim Pharma GmbH & Co. KG of Ingelheim, filed a UDRP and of course the registrant an individual from Russia had no rights to the domain. This continues a cycle of wasted money, companies having to pay UDRP filing fees for a name they really don't … [Read more...]

Looking at Whois History it looks like Faith Turna had the name stolen in January and just noticed now. The name moved from Enom to NameSilo on January  28, 2016. Now the name is at Ename. If someone offers you this name be very leary. Turna looks to have acquired the domain in 2011, it … [Read more...]

Swedish Court Gives Pirate Bay domains back to the Government

May 13, 2016 by Raymond Hackney

So last week we wrote about another game of whack - a- mole pertaining to Sci-Hub and their jumping from one extension to another. I used The Pirate Bay as an example of this game. A reader accurately pointed out that the site was back on it's Swedish extension .SE. Well today a Stockholm court of appeals upheld a ruling from last year that will take the domain names ThePirateBay.se and … [Read more...]
