Registrant of PresidentTrump.com Has Turned Down Five Figure Offers

June 11, 2016 by Raymond Hackney

Fox13News.com out of Tampa did a story on Julie Magill a Tampa resident who deals in real estate. (Tip of the cap to Namepros member NSmith91). Julie made a $9 bet on a hunch three years ago that could pay off big. Julie went and heard Donald Trump give a speech and walked away thinking that Mr. Trump could one day run for President.

From the article:

Magill has received offers for the domain and, as candidates have dropped out of the race, the offers have skyrocketed. She said her first offer, around the time Trump announced his candidacy, was for $600. Since then, she’s been offered $10,000, $20,000, even $43,500 for the domain.

Ms. Magill would ideally like to sell the domain to Donald Trump himself and she has reached out to the campaign and to Mr Trump’s children on Twitter. So far no reply.

I personally would have taken the $43,500, political domains are tricky and they have an expiration date. If Mr. Trump loses, the domain becomes just another political domain without any relevancy. At his age it is doubtful that Mr. Trump would make another run in 2020.

Even with a victory Mr. Trump may not feel compelled to acquire the domain name.

Would you have taken the money or hold out ?

Note: This is not a political blog and comments related to personal political views will be deleted. The discussion is about the domain and the registrant turning down five figure offers. Thank you

Reaching out to Trump will likely result in a reply from his legal team.

She basically already posted on her site that she bought it with him in mind .if it was not for bad press ,could you imagine trump suing an entrepreneur. He would fall apart in the. Polls .what Mr trump should do is put money towards this woman’s children’s education it’s a win win for all. BUT YOU GOTTA HAND IT TO THIS GUY. GO TRUMP

Got to take that offer. Trump doesn’t need that name.

      I think the same.

Trump doesn’t need this name just like Obama doesn’t need PresidentObama.com – The domain she owns is a worthless domain, she is crazy for not accepting $43.5K – she will never make that much on it again.

        Trump owns Trump.com
        Obama owns Obama.com

What more do they need! Half the country can’t even spell President which makes Trump a great candidate for America! make America Great Again! Then she has the audacity to register his slogan, while adding her own 2 cents to it. I think she should stay in real estate, certainly not digital real estate.

Besides, he can get Trump.co for way cheaper

Ask for $60,000 and settle for $50,000 and take the money and run ASAP.

Trump does not want to become president.
Trump is going to drop out of the race before November.
He is doing this for the publicity.

    • Reuben says

      June 13, 2016 at 1:37 pm

Yeah right, if he drops out of the race, leaving the Republicans with Hillary, that would be the worst publicity you could ever want and that’s certainly not going to happen. That negative publicity would tarnish his name brand. He absolutely wants to become president, he is a winner and when he does something, he sees it through.

IF the offer of $43.5k is indeed true, she’s stuffed it.
Besides, when Trump becomes the President, the .gov extension will work just fine…

Trump is not that generous to purchase his name from her. He sued people with the name Trump in it many times. She’s screwed. Hopefully she still can get the 43 grand before November when it will be worth only 43 bucks after he lose.

Besides the 100K for randpaul.com, are there any more examples of candidates purchasing domains?

It’s quite possible this young lady received offers. But no proof they were legitimate.

The candidates will spend about $billion on their campaigns, but domain names seem to be on the bottom priority list.

I saw this article about BernieSanders, com being given away, around the same time that RandPaul.com was sold for $101K. Maybe its the capitalist in me, but I’d have asked for $150K…

Quick flip for 40k , nice price of a name with deadlines …

If it’s true that she got those offers, IMHO she should take the 43k and run 🙂

  14. John says

    June 12, 2016 at 11:16 am

She should take the $43K and keep building her portfolio, staying away from potential trademarks. Donald Trump is no stranger to the UDRP process, and will likely send a cease and desist letter to the domainer.

    http://www.cnn.com/2014/03/01/studentnews/trump-cybersquatting-lawsuit/

I think she made a critical error in going before the national news saying she wants to sell specifically to Donald Trump. That sounds like emotion overriding logic. She hit the jackpot at $43K, but Trump likes to sue…hope it works out for her.

sad to haven’t registered this domain FOUR years ago when I first thought that a Trump run for President were not only a joke (despite the irony in my blog post) http://newgoos.blogspot.it/2011/04/trumps-white-tower.html anyhow, compliments to Julie 🙂

I do not believe anyone would offer $10,000 let alone $40k plus

reading this article, I just asked myself “why nobody register a domain for presidential race, which not to be related to any person/candidates, with possibility to be used on each election year, and so on”. so I give it a try and just registered:
    run4presidency.com, and
    runforpresidency.com

I’d like to hear your opinions.

Due the highly volatile nature of this kind of names and the associated risks… I agree, she should have taken the 43K offer.
If any interested, Trup dot es (Spanish ccTLD) may be available

If she bought the domain with the intention to sell it to Trump, and then makes that publicly known, me thinks she may run into some trouble. If the offers were legit, she should have taken it and run!

  21. No body says

    June 13, 2016 at 3:28 pm

She should not think twice before accepting such offer, that is if it is a real and genuine offer which i doubt.

    DonaldTrump.com makes more sense indeed.

  22. Main Portfolio says

    June 16, 2016 at 12:35 am

I would takethe offer even at $30k. If Trump lose, the domain will worth nothing.

Likewise, I regret to refuse the offer for my domain, Election2015 dot com last year which now the domain worth dropped but i have another one Election2021 dot com .

Never thought of registering PresidentTrump.com, great idea though 🙂
