636.cc comes back down to earth as GoDaddy wipes out some bids

September 19, 2018 by Raymond Hackney

A few days ago I posted about 636.cc hitting the auction block and immediately taking off to $30,000. Well it looks like GoDaddy went in and wiped out a lot of bids from 9/15 and the price was back down to $1,175. The name is now up to $5,100 with a couple big bids. Hopefully there are no games the second time around. You can see the bidding from the first group of bids … [Read more...]

The 420 Times allowed it's domain to expire and it closed at $10,500 on GoDaddy auctions on Tuesday. From the Huffington Post, THE 420 TIMES is a Los Angeles homegrown medical marijuana and natural healing magazine, distributed throughout Southern California. No waiting til the end of this auction

September 16, 2018 by Raymond Hackney

Usually the action gets hot toward the end of an auction, most don't want to show their hand early. That's not the case for 636.cc which hit GoDaddy auctions last night. Hetian.com closes at $46,500, will GoDaddy get full payment this time?

August 20, 2018 by Raymond Hackney

Hetian.com closed at $46,500 today on GoDaddy auctions. After last week's flurry of information on Dispute.com, it will be interesting to see if GoDaddy needs to take a haircut here. Will the buyer get the wire in on time? This could be a new gameshow for every high priced auction close on GoDaddy. There is a good chance the buyer here is from China. Some background info on the name … [Read more...]

If you know you can’t pay on time- Don’t Bid

August 13, 2018 by Raymond Hackney

The dispute.com sale did not go through at $65,000 but rather $38,000. The unfurling of the story and subsequent comments on DomainInvesting.com tell a lot. It also seems that GoDaddy needs to make some changes. Joe Styler who works for GoDaddy left a comment: The reason for default was not that there were not legitimate bids. We are pretty good at making sure that the bids are good on our … [Read more...]

Dispute.com expired where will it close?

July 29, 2018 by Raymond Hackney

Dispute.com a 22 year old, one word premium domain name has expired and hit GoDaddy auctions yesterday. The bidding is already over $30,000 with the auction not closing until 8/7. Post where you think the auction will close and the guess closest to the closing price will have a $25 donation made in their name to Elliot Silver's Pan Mass challenge. The post will be closed for comments on … [Read more...]

Does GoDaddy have too much power?

April 20, 2018 by Raymond Hackney

It seems more and more domain owners are rebelling against the GoDaddy monopoly. Huge Domains also appears to be in the crosshairs of more angry domainers. Over the last week three threads on Namepros have popped up that deal with different levels of disdain, and in one thread it has been suggested to give your names away to another Namepros domainer, rather than let GoDaddy and Huge Domains … [Read more...]
