When it comes to auction sites the Domain King says “they all suck”

August 27, 2018 by Raymond Hackney

So I posted a poll here and on Namepros to see what readers, users, domain investors think about auction marketplaces. The poll focused on the big 4, places like Sedo and Flippa don't handle expiry auctions and don't do the volume. Rick Schwartz weighed in on our auction marketplace thread, safe to say Rick does not like any of them. Rick Schwartz says August 25, 2018 at 10:41 … [Read more...]

Do you trust the major auction websites?

August 23, 2018 by Raymond Hackney

Simple question, place your vote and feel free to leave a comment expanding on your vote if you like. There have been many bidding scandals, GoDaddy's refusal to show bidder id's etc... Do you trust GoDaddy Auctions, NameJet, Snapnames and DropCatch when it comes to platform integrity, fraud detection systems in place, etc...? Please note this vote should only be based on auctions, not … [Read more...]

Hetian.com closes at $46,500, will GoDaddy get full payment this time?

August 20, 2018 by Raymond Hackney

Hetian.com closed at $46,500 today on GoDaddy auctions. After last week's flurry of information on Dispute.com, it will be interesting to see if GoDaddy needs to take a haircut here. Will the buyer get the wire in on time? This could be a new gameshow for every high priced auction close on GoDaddy. There is a good chance the buyer here is from China. Some background info on the name … [Read more...]

If you know you can’t pay on time- Don’t Bid

August 13, 2018 by Raymond Hackney

The dispute.com sale did not go through at $65,000 but rather $38,000. The unfurling of the story and subsequent comments on DomainInvesting.com tell a lot. It also seems that GoDaddy needs to make some changes. Joe Styler who works for GoDaddy left a comment: The reason for default was not that there were not legitimate bids. We are pretty good at making sure that the bids are good on our … [Read more...]

iBanks.com takes another price cut

August 11, 2018 by Raymond Hackney

iBanks.com has been around the block, the domain closed today on GoDaddy auctions at $4,550. This is the second time the name has taken a price cut over the last decade. The name registered in 1997 sold on Sedo for $38,000 on 4-3-2008. Then on this day 3 years ago the domain closed at $7,877, now to be fair it did not change hands, I have emailed Michael Sumner as he might want to remove that … [Read more...]

Dispute.com expired where will it close?

July 29, 2018 by Raymond Hackney

Dispute.com a 22 year old, one word premium domain name has expired and hit GoDaddy auctions yesterday. The bidding is already over $30,000 with the auction not closing until 8/7. Post where you think the auction will close and the guess closest to the closing price will have a $25 donation made in their name to Elliot Silver's Pan Mass challenge. The post will be closed for comments on … [Read more...]
