Namepros making changes to political discussions on their forum

April 7, 2025 by Raymond Hackney

Namepros Political Discussions

Namepros made an announcement informing members the divisive political thread is being moved to another part of the forum. No longer showing up in discussion threads. They have realized they have lost many members because of a section that has nothing to do with domain names.

Over the years I have had many conversations or emails about the section. There are also some who have skewered Namepros on X about it.

People I know left Namepros due to it, or comments like these in emails. “Motherfuckers come to a domain forum to discuss politics.” “Always good to see a person who has never been to a certain country telling their citizens how their country should be governed” “How do these people have so much time in the day to argue on a forum? That’s just a few from 2025, if I went back and copy and pasted all of them this post would run about 3000 more words.

The political thread will be moved out of site for those who wish not to see it and those who want to continue to debate will still have a place to go back and forth.

Announcement: Changes to Political Discussions on NamePros

Hello everyone,

We deeply appreciate all members who’ve contributed to this long-standing political discussion. Your thoughtful contributions and active participation have enriched our community across various discussion threads.

Over time, our community has sadly lost valued members—including mutual friends and respected peers—because of divisive political and conspiracy-related topics.

?

This situation is especially disheartening since NamePros is first and foremost a domain forum, yet we’ve experienced our greatest member losses due to topics unrelated to domains.

To find a balanced solution:

  • We’re moving the political thread to the Promotional section. While the section name isn’t ideal, it offers new advantages, such as the ability for you to edit all of your past and future posts.
  • Political discussions and conspiracy theories are no longer allowed elsewhere on NamePros, unless exclusively related to domains and credible. This particular thread will be grandfathered due to its historical significance and the contributions you’ve all made.

Our goal is simple: maintain a welcoming, friendly community focused primarily on domains.

Thank you for everything, and we hope you understand.
