InterNetX takes a look at the extensions that reached GA in 2022

December 12, 2022 by Raymond Hackney

InterNetX took a look back at the extensions that hit general availability in 2022. .Kids is the one where I wonder if it will get traction with so many focused on a safe space for children online. I guess we will see in the months to come. The post also mentioned what’s coming in 2023. Of course a new round new gtld’s could be coming as well.

.day – 1 February 2022

This extension is perfect for creating domain hacks and names to celebrate your special days.

.au – 24 March 2022

The ccTLD is not new. The Australian registry changed its policy and you can now register .au direct domain names.

.boo – 15 November 2022

This new gTLD enables creative second-level domains related to the term „boo” to create spooky but lovely domain names.

.rsvp – 15 November 2022

Send your invitations via a landing page under a clear and simple domain name. In fact, „rsvp” is a French initialism used commonly in wedding invitations to request confirmation of attendance. Register it for your event.

.kids – 29 November 2022

Under .kids, you can create a dedicated and safe space on the internet dedicated to children.

new gTLDs entering GA in 2023

What to expect in the future? Looking at the next 12 months, we already have deadlines to keep an eye on. These are the new gTLDs entering GA in 2023 that we currently know about:

  • .bot. on 4 May 2023
  • .giving on 20 January 2023
  • .channel around mid-2023

thx for the reminder! there are meanwhile so many TLD´s that with the time I forget about some… the .kids I find personally very useful. Not only for dedicated “safe” kid stuff, but also for brands. In this case you can separate a product line.
