Domain Name Sales

As we are now at the halfway point of 2021, taking a look at domain name sales for the first 6 months, shows .com on pace to surpass 2020 if things keep up.

.Com did 108,800 total sales in 2020. These sales brought in $103.4m. Average sales price $951

So far in 2021 .com has 65,220 total reported sales, generating approx $63.5m. Average sales price is up a tad around $971.

.io has been the story of 2021 already surpassing the full year 2020 and 2019 combined in the first half of 2021.

2019 and 2020 reported .io domain name sales at Namebio come in at 2077. The first half of 2021 has recorded 969 sales and $2.4m. There were only $1.4m in 2020 and $905,500 in 2019.

2021 has brought about the first 6 figure reported sales in .io.

.Net is right about on par with 2020 as far as number of sales, but in dollar volume the Poker.net sale has the extension at $2.4m for 6 months vs $3.2m for the full 2020.

New gtlds did 1,050 sales and $2.3m in 2020, currently they stand at 705 and $1.3m.

.IO had a very strong start but from June sales have collapsed in line with crypto. Sales down 50% in June.
