August 28, 2020 by Raymond Hackney

Sex.crypto sells for $90,000

CoinTelegraph posted that the domain name Sex.crypto sold for 230 ETH or close to $90,000. .crypto is run by Unstoppable Domains.

Earlier today, the domain ‘sex.crypto’ sold for 230 ETH, or approximately $90,000 at press time. The domain extension .crypto is generated by Unstoppable Domains and is censorship-resistant. The transaction, which occurred on OpenSea’s token marketplace, was completed by a user named Maxstealth. Currently, he owns 196 .crypto domains in total.

The article goes on to state the buyer appears to be a “ETH Whale” and might very well be a big believer in decentralized domain names.

    It’s a highly doubtful domain.

I could have registered Sex.Gold when it was available, which is much better than this one, but I chose not to.

At this point in time, however, I would reg both but only for reg fee, no more.

Cool, now all someone needs to do to access this “domain” is have an alternate DNS, Unstoppable browser, browser extension, etc.

Basically this domain, as is, is not accessible to 99.9%+ of people.
    This is basically New.net 2.0.

One day ICANN will approve the .crypto extension. That one would be the one with some value, as it is the one in the actual DNS root that you can type in a normal browser and access.

Yet, the unstoppable one will get wiped out in the next round. The extension is a surety to be applied for and approved.
