What was the best buy from NamesCon Live Auction?

February 6, 2020 by Raymond Hackney

NamesCon Live Auction
Best Buy???

Now that it’s been a week since the NamesCon live auction. Which buy did you think was the best buy?

When the auction was going on and I was live tweeting it seemed many thought BeautySpa.com was a great buy. Someone today emailed me they missed the auction as they were out of town. They wanted to know if TravelAgency.com really only sold for $25,000 as they thought it was an unbelievable steal. I don’t know I thought it was unbelievable but he sure did.

Some of the notable sales:

STARDATE.COM last sold for $3,427 on 2018-06-08 at GoDaddy.

So with that commission seller did not make much.

Even though it’s a .org, med.org. Tons of potential with the medical field evolving. If it’s developed right, they will get multiple times on their investment.

Directions.com was a good buy too.

Lot’s of good domain deals, but Please.com is probably the best. Lot’s of things you can do with Please.com IMO.

MED dot org. To be honest I just felt a little envious knowing I didn’t snap this one up. A well considered build-out/development (easier said than done of course!) on a name like this has huge potential. Most others may be good end user buys, not great investment value however.

    I like Stardate and Freshfood…

Stardate can be great brandable name…and it can be a service for naming stars on behalf of your loved ones for a price…this niche already exists and Stardate is a perfect match for that.

FreshFood loosely comes near to Organic and sustainable foods…easy to remember and understand for end users.

    Thanks,
    Ravi

I agree that stardate.com and freshfood.com were excellent buys. Travelagency.com was pretty darn good but a dated term.

I was just in a brick-and-mortar bookstore yesterday and saw a retail package of a gift box for “naming a star”. I think the price was $35!

      February 10, 2020 at 10:35 pm

      gift box?

I thought it is a online only service and they will send a certificate afterwards through mail.

gift box is a great idea and can be easily promoted and marketed… $35 sounds reasonable…

Would say Please.com. The price was nowhere near low but I’d say it has a good chance of appreciation in value.

EMDs and plurals like earthlings seemed cheap but are they really good buys? Firesale prices but will they be even lower in another couple of years?
