“Scammers flock to buy Libra domains”

June 29, 2019 by Raymond Hackney

Right after the Facebook announcement of Libra, I wrote an article about 1,000 Libra related names being registered almost immediately.

The threat intelligence outfit Digital Shadows reported on all the registrations and that the company has already found several sites deliberately trying to trick consumers into thinking they are related to the new Facebook project.

According to an article on Axios.com, Facebook is aware of the issue and said they will work to take the appropiate action. So for all the Libra domain holders a UDRP could be coming down the road.

There’s already a company with an active site called LibraVista.com – unassociated with Libra, but supporting it.
Libra domains won’t be UDRP’d unless it’s a scam. But if it’s a legit company I think you’ll be alright. Lot’s of discussion about this on Namepros.

That’s wishful thinking by cybersquatters, there is a great chance FB will file udrp’s. Taking legal advice from namepros domainers a recipe for failure.

Nope, keep in mind that Facebook specifically wants name libra to be as open as possible. They only running one node out of a first 100. They own their own wallet, Calibra.com, (which by the way was sold last fall for 8k) . Hence they can UDRP, unless they want to admit this is centralized effort. The whole point of Libra is decentralization. And if they even hint at central authority (like Libra name ownership), it will be put to joke by anyone understanding blockchain even little bit. Hence, no they want UDRP everyone. Look at Ethereum.com , it is still for sale for 10mil, no one have UDRPed them yet. Libra is most certainly wont be different, or it will be a joke of blockchain community.

if u are using your Libra domains to scam, then i think it’s wrong…

but if you own a domain like LibraNews. com and have a legit Libra news site, nothing is going to happen to you.

if u are scared of an udrp and own a premium domain like LibraNews or LibraCasino or any other premium Libra domains, i will buy them from you.
