Think domain names are getting expensive? A racing pigeon just sold for $1.8 million. Apparently pigeon racing is big business in China.

The National Post wrote a story, from the article:

The victorious pigeon fancier, whose identity is a secret, spent more than $1.8 to land Armando, a Belgian bird considered to be the “best long-distance pigeon of all time”. The previous record was $60,000 for a bird called Nadine.

Pigeon racing is big business in China, with millionaire enthusiasts striving to outdo each other with extravagant coops and outlandish bets laid on the outcome of races. While the sport has been flagging in popularity in Europe, wealthy Chinese interest has revitalized it.

      Not at last because it (the domain name) has it’s origin in China (China based TLD).
      At the same time it (the TLD itself) it is an international used term that could perfectly used as an adjective to describe this awesome little pigeonnn
