FBcoin.com closes at $10,000, Facebook getting into crypto?

March 15, 2019 by Raymond Hackney

Facebook

FBcoin.com closed at $10,000 on DropCatch on Thursday. There has been speculation that Facebook might get into crypto and have their own coin.

The New York Times wrote an article last month titled, “Facebook and Telegram Are Hoping to Succeed Where Bitcoin Failed”

From the article:

The most anticipated but secretive project is underway at Facebook. The company is working on a coin that users of WhatsApp, which Facebook owns, could send to friends and family instantly, said five people briefed on the effort who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of confidentiality agreements.

The Facebook project is far enough along that the social networking giant has held conversations with cryptocurrency exchanges about selling the Facebook coin to consumers, said four people briefed on the negotiations.

So it will be interesting to see if this auction gets paid? If Facebook comes a calling a buys the name for a nice profit to the seller.

This is interesting as FBcoin.com was registered on 10th March (only 5 days ago!) – the seller is Xiao Yue Li from An Hui in China (https://whois.domaintools.com/fbcoin.com) so a great profit is made in such a very short period!

The New York Times article according to five people briefed the matter said three sources close to the negotiations neither confirmed nor denied what four familiar with specifics would say.

Makes you wonder if China was spying on FB and registered the domain 5 days earlier to make the profit.
