Check your Network Solutions account if you have one

February 17, 2018 by Raymond Hackney

Namepros member Arca posted a disturbing story about their account at Network Solutions. Everyone should read the post below and check their account.

I just logged into my Network Solutions account and discovered that my “primary payment option” has been changed.

The credit card and personal information of another NetworkSolutions customer is now listed there.

So basically I have somebody elses credit card (that won’t expire until years later), name, and address as my primary option on file in my account.

I have no idea how it got there. Must be some kind of bug in their system.

So basically I could go on a buying spree buying premium domains in the Network Solutions system (or just renew all my domains) with this other Network Solutions customers’ credit card if I wanted, thanks to Network Solutions putting his credit card into my account… It’s shocking how poorly they protect their customers’ sensitive data!

Just a warning to everyone who have given their credit card info to Network Solutions. Your sensitive data may have been “copied” to the accounts of other Network Solutions customers. Keep an eye out for unauthorized transactions originating at Network Solutions, as it could be another user using your credit card.

I have changed my credit card for a prepaid one last year so they can’t charge my card for renewals $30/year lol

I don’t keep payment info on file there because of how incompetent they are. When I’m unlucky enough to have a NameJet win end up at NSI I transfer it out as soon as the lock is up. Why any domain investor would ever renew a domain at NSI instead of transferring out is beyond me.

Wow! Sound like giving a blank check…to someone else. I wonder how many account are in the same position? Network Solutions (aka WEB) should verify their account… and, they still would not know if some other customer have the right credit card info. Major danger for Network Solutions.

The recent spate of troubling news surrounding Network Solutions is alarming. First, the DomainNames.com issue, now this. Who knows what’s next?

NetSol/Namejet and Web.com as a whole, bring that vomit feeling to my throat when I say their names.

They will never change, it has always been a danger, I believe that with web.com have changed but because of what happened now there is no middle term of error they have always been dangerous with their costumer account because ICANN allows.

that’s the beginning stage of you losing your domain that you just won at a namejet auction. look for the domain that has an extra year or more added on to it. the previous owner just renewed it in their account. so now the domain is in both your account and the previous owners. as soon as the 60 day lock is up you need to move it out! this has happened to me 3 times. lost the domain the first time, got the other 2 out.

I just want to caution that just because the site shows someone else’s cc info, it does not necessarily mean that cc is tied to your account for purchases.

Watch out for a payment reverse scam! I know a guy that had someone else pay to renew his name which he did not notice, than a few months later had the CC co. reverse the charge. The name instantly went to expired status, past the redemption period. was dropped and grabbed by someone in a small country. The was years back not sure if the system does the same thing.
Network Solution would not help him, just said he did not pay for the name.

Who keep renewing names or buy anything there?
They have ridiculous prices and if you want to transfer the domain you have to beg for authorization code.
They will send it to you after 3 days while with other registrars it take seconds.
I only have names there when I win auctions on namejet but for me dealing with them is disgusting experience and i cannot wait to get this out of their platform.

If a site goes evil or disappears, since your using their software, tech, wallet etc. How are you to recover your cryptocoin? Which tech systems will protect from this scenerio so you can use others if your chosen tech goes bye?
