How was your 2017 domaining experience?

December 27, 2017 by Raymond Hackney

At the beginning of 2017 we asked if our reader’s were bullish or bearish on domaining for the new year. 65% bullish and 35% were bearish.

So how did 2017 pan out for you? Was the year better or worse for you in terms of your domain investments? (please don’t factor in stock market or cryptocurrency returns).

How was your 2017 domaining experience?

Better than expected
Worse than expected
Nothing special
I am quitting the business based off of my 2017 results

Definitely much more activity this year than last for me with the focus on fintech/blockchain/crypto. Lots of quoting and some nice sales. Hoping for a better 2018 all around!~

    Cheers,

    Mike

I broke even…We would have more sales if “The Domains” had more “list your best _____domain for under $_,___. I’d like to see, “List your best crypto domains for under $1,000.

Second best year overall since 2000, rise in .IN and .CO.IN sales and .COM keywords. Dust seems to be settling with all the new gtld hype, reality is sinking in and people are turning to .COM and .IN/.CO.IN for India. cctlds are picking up steam so that bodes well for country codes that are tied to growing economies

OK year. But no six figures sales.
Sales: Mostly .com, a few .me, and several .ai( I registered 80 .ai domains and I sold about 20, so the ROI on this one was pretty substantial, albeit mainly four figure sales each – only one 5 figure .ai sale)

I believe crypto, bitcoin, coin, eth, ether btc, blockchain domains will continue to sell at decent prices in 2018 – mainly in .com and .org (we’ll see — a lot could happen in 2018)
