Crypto registrations have gone Bat Sh*t Crazy

Unless you have been focusing on other things or living off the grid you know that Crypto is white hot. With all the coverage of Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc… The interest in crypto related domain names has gone through the roof.

Verisign released their November top trending keywords and it was dominated by crypto related keywords.

There have been 179 reported sales that are “crypto” based sales. 156 of those sales have been .com. Of course coin and Bitcoin related names are popular as well but here we are focusing on crypto.

12 sales have been the exact keyword, crypto. New gtlds have fared well with Crypto.one selling for $11,701 to lead the way.

Only 28 sales took place before 2015, CryptoWorld.com was bought for just $485 on GoDaddy auctions back in 2006. Great buy.

Now when we get to the registrations, things have gotten Bat Sh*t Crazy.

Crypto has been taken in just about every new gtld you can imagine, Crypto.Coffee, Crypto.Maison, Crypto.Boutique and many more extensions.

The .com registrations wow, Verisign must just sit back and laugh, there is a reason why the house always wins.

Like animals? Well just about every CryptoAnimal.com is gone, same with fruit, thinking about naming your startup CryptoStrawberry? Well you might need to look at the .io.

So no doubt crypto is a big deal, but people need to be careful with the 2017 version of 7 and 8n.com domains. Trends come and go and end users have a lot of options, unless you have a plan to develop buy the best quality you can reasonably afford.

    90% of those Crypto domains are crap,feeding frenzies are ugly but I expect to see some high sale prices for quality BTC, ETH, Blockchain keyword domains very soon.

    LOL. Funny but to the point, Raymond. I have very few Crypto names, but found out that one of the Single Word Coins Keyword Names that I regged during the the nGtld early days, might actually be related to Crypto, so I put that on the Sedo Direct Auctions this week. I will find out in 3-4 days if they do pan out.

    I’d say these key words are the most valuable in this order: Coin, Crypto,Bit, BTC, Ether, Eth, Bitcoin, Blockchain, Block, Chain, Token, Currency, Mine, Mining, Ledger
    Most valuable extensions: .com and .org (in that order) then .io, .co and .info
    Single word key word and .media, .one, .today .expert .guide also could have a nice ROI
    (Disclaimer: I own a decent portfolio – mostly ..com and .org — sold about 10 names — no large sales, mostky xxxx)
    I believe we also will see some high sales for BCH and Bitcoincash in 2018
