Wordfence a popular security plugin for WordPress published an article about crypto mining malware. It’s worth a read if you run a bunch of websites using WordPress.
The article explains what’s going on and what to do if you have a problem with infected websites.

Its really a non issue based on discussions with people in the business I know. Firstly it is not cost effective, secondly you need MILLIONS of users and lastly the game is using power just enough not to be noticed and thus crappy results.
Its a real thing but a wasteful one, imo.
