Microsoft is buyer of Mixer.com

Back in February, Jamie from DotWeekly.com reported that Tucow’s YummyNames.com had sold Mixer.com to an unknown MarkMonitor client.

That client is confirmed today to be Microsoft. Microsoft is rebranding Beam, Microsoft’s answer to Twitch and YouTube Gaming. Microsoft also purchased Mixer.tv.

    I did note that Microsoft was the buyer of Mixer.com on May 7, 2017: http://dotweekly.com/domain-movers-battlebay-com-ak-com-hipi-com/

    Maybe Microsoft was tired of confusing customers with “Beam” since Beam.com is a vacuum cleaner by Electrolux, although they are redirecting the premium domain to a junker… aka BeamVac.com.

    The former URL was Beam.pro. Obviously, large corporations like Microsoft know that it’s better to rebrand to a .com, rather than stick with an inferior TLD like .pro.
