I guess that about narrows it down to about 10 names.

      My bad.

I over looked the words “up to”.

Up to $1 million dollars? Do Rick expect single premium dictionary words from us schmucks? Sex and sexual innuendos is Rick’s taste. So I’ll expect a sale in that genre I’m betting.

I thought he bought all the million dollar names back in the day?

He said “No gTLD’s”. Isn’t .COM technically a gTLD? Or is he trying to say no NEW gTLD’s?

I don’t believe I have any 7 figure domains. & I realize this is up to $1 million USD, and not above.

But I’m sure there will be some nice domains submitted.

    Good luck to all.

You need an 8 figure domain to get a 1 million dollar offer, he is looking for a 10-100X return on his money type domain.

If the $25K buy did not do anything, I doubt this is going to shake much out.

Step forward if you’ve been abducted by aliens.

The real fun is hanging back and watching who seeks attention.

Predictions of a lot of Pigeonshit are WAY off the mark. Paradise.com, Que.com, Hearing.com, Stop.com SO FAR!

Domains that would sell for a Million to an end user vs domains that would sell for a Million to R Schwartz. Am I wrong to assume they would be on different planes? Rick would pay $1M if he thought he could sell for $20M.

    1. Rev says:

He is not interested in anything, unless you are going back to 1999 prices for one word .com’s

Rick, I see that you own the domain name C-H-I-C-A-G-O.com …was this a recent purchase or one that you’ve owned for some time? Curious as to what you would consider the value of this domain…

    1. STRIKER says:
      May 4, 2017 at 9:59 am

If he owns it, it’s worth 5-fig’s easy…if you own it, it’s “pigeon-shit”…you get it now? LOL!

People who flock to Rick for his perspective on domain investing TODAY are being foolish at best.

      1. Mark says:
        May 4, 2017 at 10:38 am

….just checking on his valuation of that domain as I owe N-e-w-Y-o-r-k.com

Interesting to see what Elliot posted. Question:

If Black.com really is for sale for only $750k, why hasn’t it been snapped up yet faster than the last slice of pizza in a college dorm? (I tried that once – they sell so fast it would make your head spin.)

    1. Rev says:
      May 3, 2017 at 6:04 pm

It is a standoff, nobody is going to sell category killer .com’s for peanuts, and nobody wants to pay top dollar for them from a reseller perspective, so you keep going in a circle.

I think from all the BUYS only 1 name was bought for $1K, which had an adult theme to it.

Just a retired guy having fun to be honest. Kicking the tires, people lining up on a hoop dream, thinking Rick will pay $1M for que.com lol

      1. John says:
        May 3, 2017 at 9:04 pm

There is one I saw there that is definitely worth millions, as in plural, I mean in addition to Black.com. For a few reasons I don’t want to say which one, however. Regarding Black.com, one could easily think of regular real people who are not part of the domaining world whom you would think would jump at the chance to get it for only $750k. Have they even been informed of its availability? I get the impression that is doubtful. Is it really even for sale at that price? Frankly, it’s a bit hard to believe that it really is notwithstanding the announcement to the contrary. How hard would it be to bring it to the attention of the kind of end users who would love to bid for it, including much more than $750k?

There is no way to separate purchasing a domain from trademark law and unfair competition.
A non-trademark holder might be hesitant to purchase a domain like Black.com after a search of the trademark database. In USA alone, there are nearly 17,000 trademark records for black; how many usages does that represent? So, for an uninititated purchaser, they will have to hire a IP lawyer just to conduct a search. Too many of those speculating in domains, are trying to make a fast dollar and don’t consider infringement and unfair competition; an unwise decision. Mark my words, once the 2018-2020 gold rush arrives following the 2017 retail apocoplypse/nGTLD crash, and subsides, the regulation of domain names will follow the same pattern as other lucrative industries in America; tighter UDRP rules, say 2 criteria vs. 3 to hijack domains etc., stronger federal cyber-squatting laws, and the entrance of the SEC, IRS, etc.

The Mike Berkens of the world were smart to cash out early, but the next 3 years will be good to premium 1-2 keyword domain holders; then its going to become legally ugly.
      …stay tuned.

        What pending gold rush?

I believe the ‘retail Apocalypse’ of 2017, is going to bring a flood of money into the domain arena next year thru 2020.
          http://www.businessinsider.com/the-retail-apocalypse-is-a-new-normal-2017-5

In 2017, we already witnessed Walmart purchase Shoes.com for $9 million, and numerous B&M bankruptcies. With e-commerce quickly surpassing B&M retail, those advertising dollars that were being wasted at corporations are going to be shifted to digital advertising. I believe that domain speculators and investors, holding 1-2 keyword domains with commercial meaning; that are not already owned by corporate users, are going to see big paydays in 2018-2020. Most corporate decision makers have never prioritized premium domain names as a critical part of their business, but 2017 is shifting that focus.

          …just my opinion.
