VS.com Changes Hands For Something Other Than Money

August 2, 2016 by Raymond Hackney

Back in 2015 we wrote a post about VS.com being sold.

The domain name VS.com appears to have sold.

The domain name was registered to a VS Media, Inc. of Calabasas, California until a couple of months ago when it went under privacy at Godaddy.  However the servers did not change and the domain was registered at Godaddy while it was owned by VS Media, Inc.

VS.com as recently as 2006 was an adult site Video Secrets according to Screenshots.com

More recently the domain was used to sell Customized Live Video Web Communication

The domain name’s whois information updated on October 1st and the new owner is Wang Yong of China

In the latest DN.com newsletter there is talk of VS.com changing hands again. According to the story the domain was not sold for money but rather something else.

Another premium LL.com VS.com has been acquired by a startup company. When asked how much this domain name was sold for, investor Qi Xiu said that he didn’t take money for this name. He told us that the buyer was a friend of his and they exchanged something else for the domain. As for the question of what they exchanged, we are unable to know right now.

The startup looks to be called Chengdu IB Technology Co., Ltd.

When looking at VS.com there is an about us which Google translate has relayed as the following:

    Well, nothing wrong with that.

Could be an exchange of talent, a partnership, or a gift?

    Super domain.

From my post yesterday in the news section of my site: VS.com recently developed into website by startup Ying Tou (盈透). The company offers technology products. However, domain name does not match company name. Research gave no hint on naming logic.

A joint venture was established. The domain owner owns a % of something. Platform, technology or equity position. This will far exceed an monetary purchase As the jv grows the sellers position will increase. Such examples might include the development of lasvegas.com a 90 million dollar platform. Another ex might include business.com. the domain sold for 7 million plus equity eventually sold for 300 million and then the site was redone.
