New gTLD .Bet Gets Over 13K Registrations On 1st Day Of General Availability

March 4, 2016 by Michael Berkens

a

The new gTLD .Bet went live into general availability (GA) yesterday where domain names could be registered on a 1st come, 1st served basis and ended the day with 13,779 registrations.

There were just a couple of hundred of registrations during sunrise so over 13,500 registrations were made on the 1st day of GA.

The new gTLD is owned by Afilias and is priced around $11.99 at Godaddy for a registration although there are domain names that have a premium registration and renewal fee.

b

For example the domain names Blackjack.Bet; Aces.Bet; Slots.Bet, Dice.Bet; Craps.Bet; Horses.Bet; Baseball.Bet; Basketball.net and Soccer.bet are all priced with a registration and renewal fee of $3,249,99 a year.  It does seem someone paid that amount to register Football.bet yesterday.

I did a quick look through Registered.today, and it seemed around 70% of all .bet names registered yesterday were numbered domain names.

I wound up registering a few .bet domains including:

collegebasketball.bet

collegefootball.bet

great.bet

hardways.bet

highstakes.bet

hitme.bet

makea.bet

offtrack.bet

parlay.bet

winning.bet

Atleast I am left with zero dotbet domains because Godaddy failed to register single domain out of 9 domain orders.
