Here is How To Bid in The Live Namescon/ RightoftheDot.com Auction

January 7, 2016 by Michael Berkens

I understand this might be a little confusing but I’m trying to lay out how you can bid on the  domain names in the RightoftheDot.com auction at Namescon, while the live domain name auction underway on Monday January 11th starting at 2PM PST

So there are over 400 domain names in the auction, but only 125 or so will make the cut for the live auction on January 11, 2016 stating at 2:00 PM PST at NamesCon at the New Tropicana Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, NV.

There is almost $7 Million dollars in pre-bids in the auction

Shortly before the live auction begins, the domains selected for the “live auction” will be moved from the NameJet website to the live auction website, which is on a different platform which requires a different account and sign-in.

To participate in the live auction, you may do so IN-PERSON at the NamesCon Domain Conference, or you MUST register to participate ONLINE via the following link:  http://apps.ams1.auctionsolutions.com/registration/rotd/rotdprod001/bregister.php

Once you have created an account, you will receive an email from RightOfTheDot with your username and password, which you can use to enter the auction and participate in the online auction, during the auction.

Please note that the live auction does not begin until January 11, 2016 at 2:00 PM PST, and the live online auction portal will open shortly before that.

Prior to the opening of the live auction all pre-bidding will occur on NameJet.

Please note that if you have placed a proxy bid that is not reached in pre-bidding on a live auction domain, your proxy will be used in the live auction with any live bids but your pre-bid can get out bid either in the room or through the online portal pr wind up being the high bid.

Following the live auction, there will be an online only auction,  on NameJet.com for an additional 10 days which will close on January 21, 2016.

This EXTENDED AUCTION will include ALL domains names not selected for live auction and those that were included in the live auction that did not hit reserve.

So to be clear whether or not you placed a pre-bid on Namejet.com you will HAVE to register to bid during the Live auction online or attend in person.

Namejet will NOT be accepting bids for selected LIVE domain names in live auction, during the auction.

The only way to bid during the LIVE auction will be in person, in the room, with a paddle or online by signing up for an account with auctionsolutions.com/registration/rotd/rotdprod001/bregister.php

If you just want to watch the auction you will likewise have to sign up again, even if you have a NameJet.com account at http://apps.ams1.auctionsolutions.com/registration/rotd/rotdprod001/bregister.php

If you want to place a proxy bid you can do so ahead of time by writing to Monte@rightofthedot.com or make phone other arrangements ahead of time.

If you have any questions please contact Monte@rightofthedot.com.

Not a single comment about the auction? Shocked by the stock crash?

Having to register twice and two different systems is not working smart. It would have been better if all ran on namejet without any live auction and all the drama that entails. You could have just have the namejet auction ends at a certain time during Namescon and run a nice party and a broadcast screen of live results. For those who want to bid, well, they all have mobile these days anyways and can do it from their phones. Would have been more than enough and allot better imho.

I understand trying to get the very best price for all the domains submitted but this is ridiculous. It’s the ROTD never ending auctions. I was hoping to get a couple of domains but now doubt it’s worth all the hassle.

    Guys

Namejet does not have a way to incorporate live bidding into their system, snapnames did but namejet did not.

So its not a stupid thing or option we had

However there will be over 1,000 people at namescon and the bidding/viewing system is the same one Monte has been using for 10+ years.

Namejet has a much bigger active daily online auction platform in terms of numbers of bidders, sellers and domains so for a little inconvenience which is unavoidable, we pick up a lot of bidders that just don’t engage on other platforms.

Also 250+ domains will not make the live auction and will only be sold on Namejet like any other domain they auction off so maybe some of your favorites will be in that group and that auction doesn’t end until the 21st

Mike, the 250+ domains not going to live auction and ending on NJ on the 21st, does a bidder need to place a pre-bid before the 11th which is when NJ says it will end, to participate or will they be open to the public automatically after the 11th? Put another way, is a pre-bid a requirement to be placed in the 10 day auctions after the 11th?

    Tony

Ok so for the domains NOT selected for the live auction those domains will be on namejet, will close out on the 21st.

They will not come off of namejet and will be like any other namejet auction

The domains that are selected for the live auction that do not sell (bids below reserve) will be back on namejet on the 12th and those domain too will close out on the 21st

Wow, I just registered and got an email that contained my username (system generated) and password (entered by me) in _cleartext_. Not very secure.
