ICM Releases 2 Character Domains In .XXX

January 7, 2016 by Michael Berkens

ICM Registry, the registry operator for .XXX, .PORN, .ADULT and .SEX, announces the launch of 2 character domains in .XXX.

The press release also came with a bold statement:

“””In dollar amounts, we have likely sold more in premium names than any registry launched in recent times.”””

ICM is also claiming “a growing interest from the Chinese market and a general increase in awareness of all our TLDs leave the outlook for brands, adult companies, and domain investors very strong in 2016.”

ICM Registry also announced it sold VR.SEX and VR.PORN, to separate parties in all cash transactions with a list price of $100,000 each.

Steve Winyard, Director of ICM is quoted as saying “Within just a few months, we have sold over 250 two character names in .SEX, .ADULT and .PORN.  We are delighted to bring these rare two character .XXX names to market.”

Premium 2 character .XXX domains remain directly available through ICM and annual pricing is now available through select registrars, with costs as low as $3,000 per year.

“Since the launch of our annual pricing program in September 2015 we have sold over 500 premium names, led by the 250 two character names.

As an early supporter and one of the very select holders of a 1 character .xxx, .adult, .sex and .porn I am happy to see the continued success of ICM.

But there is never any resales for xxx. I have owned some gems, Actor.xxx. ForSale.txxx. etc, and never 1 offer. The only sales are coming from ICM Registry. I have never heard of 1 sale in the aftermarket, not 1. Big disappointment!

There have been a few, mostly private sales that I know of.
Not sure if yours are gems, they are good but with so many still available it’s tough for the resell market.

        I agree — them ain’t gems.
I’ve got opposite.sex, anonymous.sex, LGBT.sex — words that work better ‘across the dot’. A little more gem-y, perhaps.
        Still, no offers yet.

Received couple of offers but they are not close to our expectation prices so rejected them.
          – Same.sex
          – School.sex
          – DIY.porn

Seriously, why .XXX are more expensive than .SEX names? I see .SEX more attractive extension.

And those prices are rates per year? They want $37,500 for LL.XXX names each year? Huh… Not even 10% of that will get. Dream on!

All ICM names should be the same price as the registrar, as for the premiums I would guess .xxx are valued higher because the extension has been around longer and more widely used.

Only an x-rated domain can sell for this much. I can’t figure out how those who buy them can break even. Maybe I need to be schooled in that line.
