It is all about the eights – 8888828.com sells for $5,103

October 22, 2015 by Raymond Hackney

The Sedo auction for 8888828.com was paid and hit the Sedo sales wire, the name sold for $5,103, yes a 7N.com. The seller is local to me actually about 30 minutes away in King of Prussia, DomainDakini.com purchased the domain name back in 2014, it looks like from a Chinese registrant who hand regged the domain back in 2013.

The domain was dropped twice previously. That is the tricky thing with these names, people tend to get bored with no action and drop a domain name, there certainly was little action in 7N.com back when it was first registered, but for $8 if you believe in the pattern you might have to keep renewing the domain.

The .net is registered actually last month it got registered. The .cn/.wang/.top are registered.

“… about 30 minutes away in King of Prussia …”

That was a confusing 10 seconds until the internet informed me “King of Prussia” is a Pennsylvania town and not, in fact, a king of Prussia.

Just as interesting background info.. the auction was triggered by my opening offer of $488 after finding this gem even available for BIN of $688 or “open to offers”… silly as i was i counted pennies and offered the min amount instead of simply snapping it up for the $688 straight away…

first and last time to make this mistake, at least there were some other gems consisting mostly of only 8s and few other random numbers to be found on Sedo in the past weeks, but now all dried up..

Amazing, wish I bought into the number domains earlier. Dumb me.

Any value in number sequence type domains?

    12345678987654321.com?
    2468108642.com?
    987654321123456789.com?
    2468108642.com?

No, sequence number domains are not easy to remember or memorize. Repeated numbers are the ones mostly valued by Chinese domainers / investors, especially domains with lots of 8s or that is not synonymous with bad luck.
