.NYC One Year Anniversary Is Today; Collision List Drops & City Issues Updated Stats

To mark the one-year anniversary of .nyc, the City of New York published the latest statistics on the state of the .nyc domain name.

The ICANN Collision list for .NYC is being released today for registration today as well.

It will be interesting to see how many get registered.

Here are the more interesting stats from the report which can view in its entirety here.

To date there are just over 85,000 .nyc registered domain names, more than any other city new gTLD.

The average retail cost paid for a .nyc domain is $34.99

The average registrant owns between 1-2 domains, and 98% of registrants own 10 or fewer domains

53% of .nyc domains have been registered to individuals; 47% have been registered to small businesses and organizations

Only 96 registrants have 50 or more .nyc domains.

The average .nyc domain has 9 characters.

The top 5 .nyc websites in the Alexa 1 Million ranking are:

Digital.nyc

Mystudent.nyc

Casey.nyc

Gaycitynews.nyc

Bike.nyc

    The fight for collision names were pretty fierce. There were a few nuggets there. Best names were gone in first few minutes
