WHOAPI produced an infographic that took a peek inside the top 1,000 websites. They delve into things like preferred extensions, how many websites have one number in their website and where the top 1,000 host their websites.

    Domain length doesn’t play a large role in getting traffic

    Well it does. They just needed to analyse it a bit deeper.

    If you define the length as the number of characters until first dot, 25% of top 1,000 sites fall within one to six chars. 75% is already covered by #12 or less.

    Only two domain names reach beyond 20: free-tv-video-online(21)info and what-character-are-you(23)com

      When you look at the graph of the average length as you add more top sites, it deeps at the first few dozens to 6.5 jumps back to 7 in the top 100 then gradually raises to 8.
