Welcome to another action packed Domain Movers where we detect recent movement on domain names that have been mainly all acquired by large corporations, some new startups and simply valuable domain names on the move for different reasons.
These are often early detection’s that will result in new advertising campaigns, products, services and much more. Here we go:
Freedman Electronics PTY LTD which acquired the domain name Rode.com from Tucows back in January 2015 as I reported here, has officially switched main domain names from RodeMic.com to Rode.com.
TD Ameritrade has purchased the domain name TDAI.com (tdai) from Gregg Ostrick of GNO, Inc. . The domain name was parked with SmartName with a for sale message on the top at the time of the sale.
TD Ameritrade owns the domain name TDAinstitutional.com, which helps independent Registered Investment Advisors achieve their business vision and serve the best interests of their clients.
NYSE Euronext which owns the domain name BoardMember.com and had a website on the domain name for the NYSE Governance Services Corporate Board Member, removed the website and began redirecting the domain name to http://www.nyse.com/governance/ sometime about June/July 2014 and that web page resolves to an error.
Board Member, Inc. of Brentwood, TN owned BoardMember.com up to January 13, 2012 when registrants changed to NYSE Euronext. It was announced September 1, 2010 that NYSE Euronext acquired Corporate Board Member.
Wikipedia states that Intercontinental Exchange became the components of a merger from NYSE Group, Inc and Euronext N.V. and in May 27, 2014 Euronext was spun off.
Startup Tilt.com, Inc. acquired Tilt.com on July 25, 2014 when it was using the domain name CrowdTilt.com. They purchased the domain name from Nickles & Dimes of Carrollton Texas who has a website on TiltStudio.com.
Tilt.com has been registered since December 19, 1994. I have reached out to the sellers to see if they can share some details on the sale but have not heard back.
Jibo.com has been acquired by heavily funded ($38.6M) Jibo Inc. which was founded in 2012 by Cynthia Breazeal and Steve Chambers. The company, which used MyJibo.com prior, now uses Jibo.com as it’s main domain name. Jibo is the world’s first social robot for the home.
Jibo, Inc. used The Treadstone Group, Inc. Ross Bulla to assist with acquiring the domain name in January 2015 from Jay Dove of Deep Frontier.
QT.com has changed ownership. The domain name was owned by Gerald Carr of Saint Ann, MO until July 30, 2015 when Raymond Liu appears in whois records. The domain name has since transferred to eName.com out of NSI. DomainShane.com reported that domain brokers QLQ.com brokered QT.com for $615,000.
Oliver White of Heals.co.uk has purchased the domain name Heals.com from Kenn Wagenheim of DictionaryOf.com, Inc. according to whois records in June 2014. Heal’s offers home furniture, lamps, bedding and cooking items.
Miller.com has changed ownership according to whois records. The domain name has long been owned by Miller Consulting Inc. of Portland Oregon and now has moved to whois privacy. Two of the biggest brands that come to mind when I hear the term Miller, is MillerCoors and Miller Welding. The Miller name in general is a widely used term, but who the new owners currently are is unknown.
On the new gTLD front, Facebook, Inc. registered the new gTLD domain name Facebook.Racing and Caterpillar Inc. registered Cat.Racing. Caterpillar is a well known sponsor in NASCAR but Facebook? Not so much. Instagram LLC, which is owned by Facebook also registered Instagram.Racing.
Airbus Defense and Space GmbH has registered the domain name Quadcruiser.com . More on the UAV Quadcruiser can be found here. The proof of concept was announced by Airbus in December 2013. The domain name was registered prior but expired December 2010 and remained unregistered since.
NEEO AG acquired the EMD Neeo.com in June 2014 according to whois records. NEEO is a “The Thinking Remote”, “The revolutionary remote with hand recognition and insanely simple setup for your smart home. Control your TV, lighting, heating and more with NEEO.”
There is a domain listing at GoDaddy with a minimum offer of $25,000 for the domain.
Enterprise Rent a Car, the owners of the premium generic domain name RentalCar.com have changed name servers on the domain name from the standard MarkMonitor.com to dns-av.fareoffice.com . FareOffice.com is owned by Fareoffice CRS AB and their about us page mentions:
“For more than ten years, Fareoffice have been working closely with some of the largest global car rental brands to make their online business as efficient as possible. We use our broad technical knowledge and many years of car rental industry experience to create technical solutions that let our customers focus on their core business.”
FareOffice.com clients are listed on its website as Alamo and National at time of publication.
Based on screen shot history, the current site at publication visually does not appear to have changed.
Mondelez International, Inc. registered the domain name GoodThins.net | .org on August 10, 2015 via CSC Corporate Domains. The domain name GoodThins.com was registered on April 27, 2015 at PDR LTD. and is under privacy protection.
The Oreo brand, which is owned by Mondelez, launched “Oreo Thins” in July 2015. Good Thins may be a play on “Good Things”? and a potential future advertising term?
Paypal Inc. registered 4 new domains all relating to each other with PaypalDigitalAssets.com | .net and Paypal-DigitalAssets.com | .net
Unilever Plc, owners of over 7,000+ domain names have added to that number with NewComfortUltra.com and RightOnGirls.com
Google Inc. has taken ownership of the domain name GoogleTranslate.com that has been registered since July 2004. This domain name was obtained by UDRP and ordered transferred to Google, which has officially taken place. The domain name has an Alexa.com global ranking of 644,808 which would indicate traffic to the domain name.
Microsoft Corporation has acquired the domain name ProgramByExample.com from a Jeff Krueger of Salt Lake, Utah. The domain has been registered since September 27, 2007.
Zink.com has transferred out of CSC Corporate Domains to Safenames. The domain still resolves to ZINK Imaging as it did prior to transfer but whois records are currently not updated.
ZINK Imaging is a spinoff of Polaroid Corp and BostonGlobe.com covered the company recently (2/2015) if you wish to know more about them. They have raised over $150M in funding.
I am noting this transfer, because it seems a little “odd” to transfer out when PLR IP Holdings, LLC. (Polaroid) domains remain at CSC as far as I can tell currently.
E3.com and i2.com have been listed for sale via SafeNames. The domain names both were under privacy at Network Solutions prior but both are connected to JDA Software.
E3 is an extremely popular term in the game industry as the Electronic Entertainment Expo is referred to as “E3”. They currently use the domain name E3Expo.com and the event is organized by Entertainment Software Association. They would be THE buyer IMO for E3.com.

Hi Jamie, I just found your blog while doing some domain research. Nice updates on these sales; it would be nice to see some dollar amounts. 🙂 I know they aren’t always public, but I am very curious about some of these.
Best regards, Anthony
