Star Wars First Assault Game Back In The Works? Domain Reg Hints At It

September 4, 2015 by Jamie Zoch

*See update at bottom of page, which announces beta release of First Assault by Nexon.

FirstAssaultGame.com has been registered by a currently unknown CSC Corporate Domains client using generic whois data currently.

Does this mean that the Star Wars game, First Assault may be back in the works?

Doing some research, here are some findings:

According to StarWars.Wikia.com :

“Star Wars: First Assault was a video game in development at LucasArts. It was canceled due to the closure of LucasArts after The Walt Disney Company’s purchase of Lucasfilm. The domain name for StarWarsFirstAssault.com, which is currently empty, was registered by LucasArts’ parent company, Lucasfilm Ltd. The trademark for the product relates to “interactive entertainment software.” This has in turn made several gaming sites such as GameSpy.com and IGN.com speculate that the then-upcoming product was indeed another LucasArts video game. “

The domain StarWarsFirstAssault.com as mentioned above is still registered and is also using generic CSC whois information currently.

LucasFilms LTD to note, is a CSC Corporate Domains client, as is Electronic Arts! I mention EA because several domain names had name servers changes the same day the FirstAssaultGame.com domain name was registered and those relate to another Star Wars game by EA. Galaxy Of Heroes, that just had an official trailer released.

GalaxyOfHeroes.com |.net |.biz all moved to LucasFilm.com name servers. As did EAGalaxyOfHereors.com, EAStarWarsGalaxyOfHeroes.com, EAStarWarsMobile.com, PlayGalaxyOfHeroes.com |.net, PlayStarWarsGalaxyOfHeroes.com |.net |.biz and StarWarsGalaxyOfHeroes.com |.net |.biz

http://starwars.ea.com/starwars/galaxy-of-heroes website states: Collect To Conquer, Coming This Holiday Season. EA announced it on August 31, 2015.

EA is doing the games for LucasFilms.

In general, the last news I could find relating to the Star Wars First Assault Game was dating back to 2013, so this may be a clue that the canceled game may be back in the works?

That would at least make GamesRadar.com happy, since they recently wrote about it stating that: First Assault – The Battlefront 3 that almost was.

There are two abandoned trademarks for Star Wars: First Assault and First Assault that were owned by The Walt Disney Company, both with a status date of November 17, 2014.

Update 9/18/2015: Nexon announces beta release of Ghost In A Shell: First Assault! The announcement states:

Become the Ultimate Augmented Super Soldier in First Assault

Licensed by Nexon from Kodansha Ltd. and Production I.G, Inc., First Assault is based on Shirow Masamune’s acclaimed manga the Ghost in the Shell, one of the core originators of the Cyberpunk genre. First Assault references the anime source material while advancing the dark near-future universe and bringing it to a frenetic but tactical first-person shooter game environment.
