” … tells Reuters he is not interest in selling .XYZ to Google or anyone else.”

Interesting in that a number of large tech companies once turned down substantial offers in the early going. From an investor perspective, big corporations have the name & leverage to accelerate public familiarity and wide scale adoption.

Sorry, Google, the remaining 2/3 of this tuna sandwich are not for sale.

I believe I was put on earth to finish eating lunch.

Google! What did I just say? Get off my back, Google! No, I don’t want your billions. Mmm … mayonnaise …

Would anybody else like to refuse to sell something to Google? Go ahead! It’s a big universe, full of stuff you can clutch possessively.

Because by saying that they think Google will want them even more not giving Google enough credit to recognize the source of the rumor.

Seriously this is getting out of hand now. In that news report, he’s not ruling out an IPO, and he’s saying he was put on earth to create .XYZ…

Major props to Daniel for milking this for all it’s worth, but if this in fact turns out to kind of be a joke, which is what some people think it is on Google’s part, he’s really going to look foolish.

Why is it maybe a joke? Google hid an easter egg in their PR that was a shout-out to fictional company Hooli which is basically Google on HBO’s show Silicon Valley. Hooli has had their own .XYZ landing page for some time now.

Look at the landing page, it’s got a Prius, a white internet Balloon and it’s all about crazy “MoonShot” projects. http://www.hooli.xyz/#xploration

If this turns out to be kind of an elaborate landing page prank on Google’s part, it’s not an endorsement of .XYZ, it’s Google making fun of itself, which is pretty awesome. But that doesn’t help legitimize the .XYZ registry in any way.

Well, since the domain was held by the registry, .XYZ had to have BOUGHT the domain from him at some point.

    August 17, 2015 at 5:43 pm

Why would they want .xyz? just because they got one domain because it fitted with their vision and actually maked sense, getting a full registrar of .xyz most of which dont make sense at all, would be silly.

    • joe says

      August 19, 2015 at 1:12 am

Your comment does not “maked sense”, Google owns a registry already, so it is not so far-fetched that they might want to own this extension.

I’d be surprised if google would be interested in owning .xyz registry. It was a cool domain abc.xyz and that is probably about it in my opinion. I think they just wanted a domain in the outer abyss of the internet. It seems to fit very well for their holding company but people seem to reading way to much into this. who knows maybe its a temporary location till they find a more suitable domain.

      August 19, 2015 at 1:14 am

Could vary well be, and time will tell. But to say it is impossible that they would want it, that I would not agree with, as they do own a few extensions.

Seriously Negari is living in some fantasy. He thinks he is put on earth to create .xyz. With NetSol free .xyz giveaway to manipulate fake registration numbers, he can’t be trusted for anything. When Google starts talking money, he will show his true intention…

  12. Rubens Kuhl says

    August 17, 2015 at 11:20 pm

Considering what Google decided to pay, or not to pay, in new gTLD contention sets, whatever Google sees as valuation for .xyz wouldn’t please Mr. Negari.

Outside of the free netsol domains which I think were around 375K, all the other .xyz domain were sold although many for $1 or so

Is TheDomains a kind of the Onion or DomainGang where they publish rubbish hilarious news?

“I believe I was put on the earth to do .xyz, and to bring it to the market. “My work is nowhere near done”
Hahaha, keep those pearls coming, these stories deserve a comedy show.
    Next, XYZ buys out AT&T.
Newly formed corporation to be called AT&TXYZ with Negari as CEO and Pontifex.

Rubbish and hilarious is a clash of terms. DomainGang news are 80% real domain industry related, and 20% parody or fiction. Read it more carefully, you might learn a lot from fiction even.

        • joe says

          August 19, 2015 at 1:18 am

Heh, DG and TD are both reliable.

          • OuMun says

            August 19, 2015 at 2:19 am

            No, DG has never been.
It was one of the most blacklisted blogs on Domaining.com feed.
And well, I thought TD was reliable until they started reporting rubbish like this. And for your information, there’s nothing in the linked Reuters article (written by a dude in Bangalore) that gives a hint that Google might buy the registrar. It’s just a statement by Negari saying that he would not sell the registrar if anybody would make a buyout offer. Nowhere in the article is written that Google expressed interest in buy the registrar (or the extension).
Please, read the article before reporting Mr. BERKENS

I wasn’t put on this earth to listen to bullshite. I don’t care if your name begins with ABC, or XYZ., you’re not getting any donations from me.

It may not be not too late to talk about this kind of story when Google adopts Google.xyz as their major homepage.

  20. Krishnakumar KA says

No one was interested in .xyz, but the registration of abc.xyz made that domain valuable. Or that gave life to .xyz. He has to say thank to Google but its up to him to sell it or not.
