.Love launched into General Availability today where it can be registered on a first come, first served basis, making .Love, I believe, to be the first new gTLD to launch on a Friday.

The Dot Love Registry announced it will be giving away 2,015 Free.Love domain names this year to couples “Newly Engaged or married couples”, thereby completing with .Wedding and .Wed.

Here is from the announcement:

In celebration of the year of .LOVE launch, we are giving away 2,015 free .LOVE domain names to couples. Additionally, each couple will be provided with an optional free website template to create their own custom online love story to announce their engagement, plan their wedding, allow guests to RSVP or share photos online, and share life’s special moments together – be it an engagement, marriage, first home, first child or other significant life events.”

Get a FREE .LOVE webname by simply tweeting your desired domain name.love to the #getdotlove hashtag and within a few hours, you will receive a free voucher code to register your .love website domain (for example, www.billandkate.love). The voucher code can then be used online to retrieve your free domain name for seven days after being issued”

Earlier this week we wrote about pricing on .Love domain names which at the time were $28.99 for regular registration but had premium domain registrations/renewal up to $15,000 per year.

There are 182 .Love domain names registered in the zone file through Sunrise and Landrush but several of those are being used to market the registry.

I did it in 30 minutes after you published the post. And I didn’t hear from them yet.
