IamWire Creates Infographic of Future Of Domain Names

May 29, 2015 by Jamie Zoch

IamWire.com has created a very informative and detailed infographic on the future of domain names, highlighting the article from the first domain created in 1985 with Symbolics.com to several new gTLD’s.

This was the first time I read an article from IamWire but writer Sujata Sangwan really did a well balanced article that is very informative for people in and out of the domain name space.

Several high profile names appear in the article with Rick Schwartz, Paul Stahura and Monte Cahn,  even getting their own caricatures!

Sujata understands domain names are important by starting off the article with:

Before starting a new website or even starting a new business itself, one of the most important decisions people have to make is choosing a domain name.

Finally, a real infographic that balances information with proper presentation. For future reference, an inforgraphic isn’t just a repository of large chunks of copy, but a method of visualizing information. This one does the job very well. Great find.

one note about prices related to .com. doesn’t seem credible to me saying that .net is valued at 75% less than a .com. that is to say that a 100k .com will imply a 25k .net. it is more in the lines of 10 times less. that is, 90% less.
