After Dropping In October 2013 & Sold On Namejet, StormGuard.com Hit With UDRP

February 16, 2015 by Michael Berkens

The domain name StormGuard.com has been hit with a UDRP filing by Storm Guard Franchise Systems, LLC.

The domain name went into pending delete in October 2013 after hainv been owned by Homeshield Stormguard L.L.C. of Hialeah, FL, which seemed to acquire the domain name in october 2008 all according to domaintools.com

In November 2013 the domain name sold on Namejet.com after dropping, for $1,117 according to Dnpric.es

The domain name twas originally registered in 1999.

Its not clear if the company who owned the domain name when in dropped in October 2013 is the same company that filed this UDRP but if it is this is the 2nd case of the day with that factual basis, although in the other case the UDRP was filed just a week after the domain dropped.

According to Screenshots.com the last time the domain was in use under Storm Guard it was 2008.

Earlier today we wrote about a UDRP decision that handed a dropping  domain name back to its former owner who did not hold a US trademark.

It could be a rare situation where there are two similar cases in one day or it could mark the begging of a new pattern of attack on domain holders.

UDRP process was never created for a babysitting service if you forget to renew your domains. These guys paying thousands at auction daily for such industry terms better be careful, the domainer assumes all the risk, gets nothing in return, last 2 years using udrp to steal names, now using them to extend the redemption period to retain domains. If you pay the filing fee, I guess they will take your money, good business to be in.

Checking archive.org the original registrant is StormGuard based out of Hialeah, Florida which sold and installed Hurricane Shutters.

The StormGuard that has filed the UDRP is a restoration company that helps with insurance claims and restoring the damage after a storm.
