Twentieth Century Fox Now Own Avatar.com: Still The Largest Gross Movie of All Time

December 29, 2014 by Michael Berkens

Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation now owns the domain name Avatar.com

Avatar is still the the largest grossing movie in history, and the sequel Avatar 2 is planned for a 2016 release, which will also be directed by James Cameron.

The domain name appears to have sold in December 2012.

The domain was owned by a consulting company out of Billings, Montana known as Avatar Consultants which it used for its site.

The domain name has an original creation date of August 22, 1990.

The domain name Avatar.com is being forwarded to AvatarMovie.com, which is the site the film used prior to acquiring Avatar.com

I have no idea of how much Fox paid for the domain name.

Hopefully the owner of the domain at least consulted with a domain name expert or broker.

The domain name Avatars.com is in the Namescon, RightoftheDot.com auction.

The reserve range is $25,000-$50,000 and prebidding is opened on SnapNames.com for that domain and all other domain names in the live/online/extended auction

Great article… I wonder if Fox would be interested in buying BlueAliens.com as well?

It would be intriguing to see what the final price Fox.com paid for Avatar.com

They were also using Avtr.com to promote the first movie before they upgraded to the premium generic version.

With the massive amount that the first movie made, let’s hope it was an out of this world figure for the seller.
