Did NamesCon Buy DomainFest.com?

December 15, 2014 by Michael Berkens

I was going through the schedule for the Namescon conference taking place in January 2015 at Las Vegas and found this session:

Sunday, January 11 • 10:00am – 10:15am (which is the 1st day of NameCon)
“Welcome to DomainFest @NamesCon! “
Namescon unlike any previous domain conference that I’m aware of is allowing people to sign up for sessions they want to attend now, in advance since there is limited seating capacity in some of the sessions.
So I was signing up for some sessions when I can across this session “A welcome to DomainFest@NamesCon.”

Below is the description of the session, but the use of the term DomainFest@NameCon sound like to me that they either have acquired the DomainFest Conference or entered into some arrangement with Oversee the owner of DomainFest to use the name.

Of course Oversee.net no longer owns Moniker, SnapNames.com or even its large domain portfolio, so there would be no logical reason for Oversee to hold DomainFest anymore unless they were in the business of just holding conferences which they are not.

Here is the description from the NamesCon site for the session

“”These sessions are designed for the newcomer or new entrant into the exciting realm of Domain Names – to better leverage the topics, content, and subject matter of the balance of the NamesCon conference.

If you are continuing your stay in Las Vegas after CES, are a local Las Vegas business that wants to know more, or you are just getting started in digital branding and Domain Names – you are very welcome, and these orientation sessions are for attendees like you.””

I’m reaching out to see what I can find out.

    Hi Michael,

As per your inquiry, I do not know the answer.

When will the NamesCon Live Auction inventory be unveiled?

    Thank you.

“Times they are a changing”… It makes sense to me.
I went to NamesCon last year to watch the industry transition from dot com to dot everything. A good conference. Historical first event last year. Expanded and better this year. Go Richard and company!

Hope they have – and that they want the .uk and .co.uk too!
