At Least One Registrar is Offering Free .Webcam Domain Registration

September 15, 2014 by Michael Berkens

Courtesy  of our new gTLD blogging friend Jean Guillon comes word that at least one domain name registrar is offering free .Webcam registration through the end of the year though one registrar.

According to Jean you can register free .Webcam domain names can be registered at the domain name registrar AlpNames.com  for one year with this coupon: NEWSGTLDS100

The offer is valid until December 2014.
Jean goes on to say this is a “limited offer” but doesn’t indicate what the limitations are other than that the code is only valid for the rest of the year.
I personally haven’t tried the code but Jean says in his post that it works.
Jean has now commented below that the offer seems to be good for 100 free .webcam registrations.

Hello Michael, actually the offer was for 20 free domain names and I registered ports.webcam for myself (because there are many webcams showing many ports worldwide).

But I have a good news: the offer is now up to 100 free .webcam domain names with the same coupon (NEWSGTLDS100).

I assume you can only reg. one domain?
And, they are only going to give away 100? free webcam domains?

I tried to reg one but it would not go thru.

It is 1 name registration for free. The code doesn’t work for more registrations

After registering a domain with AlpNames, did anybody else get a browser warning message about the site not being secure and hackers possibly attempting to steal your password and contact information?

    I did.

Clicked the “back to safety” button. Not sure what, if anything, may be compromised.

This is being fixed at the moment I am writing this. Thanks for the feed-back.

Sorry if exposing a glitch is causing you a headache, Jean.

Hopefully it will be fixed shortly.

No problem, that is how you build a great Registrar. By the way; just to update you .. the AlpNames certificate issue has been fixed. Certificates installation was corrected on the payment provider’s side. Thank you for your feed-back.

      @Peterson,

Even after you register the domain, there’s no guarantee you actually have a domain registered, because they apparently will send you an email confirmation to verify your account, and if you don’t respond to that email, the domain you registered will cancel in a few days; the catch? Their verification email may never come.

I received the verification email immediately.

I got the same on Chrome.

Site is quite buggy. Attempted a registration with coupon but after confirmation returned a error that domain has already been registered by someone else. Even though no domains registered the account shows “Coupon Per User Limit Exceeded” when attempting to register a different domain.

Can you imagine a domainer to try to grab all free .WEBCAM domain names? I doubt this is what the offer is made for 🙂

    Jean

Well .Berlin offered free domains for two days and two domainers registered 70,000 of them

Yes but don’t think .BERLIN blocked domainers from registering. It is what AlpNames does with its procedure. The problem with domainers is that many can build a fast process to automate registrations, then park: I don’t think a Registrar wants that to happen since a domainer will probably not renew the domain in year 2 and then drop it. Such operation is not interesting for any Registrar,in particular when he gives away domain names.

Blocking to one free registration is a good way to attract another consumer: the one who will want to use his domain.

Domain names are meant to be used no?

    DISCONTINUED???
Seems as though the coupon is discontinued.
It is giving the error of “coupon usage exceeded” or something like that.
I have not used or exceeded anything and it is not pebkac.
Anyone else able to confirm that NEWSGTLDS100 does not work any longer?

Correct, after 100 given .WEBCAM domain names, the offer ends.
