The .ID is here and it is not cheap

August 17, 2014 by Raymond Hackney

id

Today is independence day in Indonesia, and on this day the shorter .id extension is now available. The extension is not cheap and comes with some restrictions.

From 101Domain.com

Copy of Indonesian business certificate (NPWP and TDP/SIUP) and a copy of the contact person’s KTP (Indonesian Identity Card). If you are a foreign company, please select Trustee Service at checkout. Domain naming requirement: the domain name must be similar or related to the registrant name, or registrant’s company, trademark, product or agency/representative. Less than 5 characters needs to be decided on a case by case basis.

Their price is $169

All of the registrars offering .id that I have seen are offering trustee service for their customers.

2,3 and 4 character domains are considered premium. A lot of potential domain hacks which tend to get registered in exotic cctlds with the right letter combos, may be out the window, so no names like:

cupid
droid
fluid
humid
lipid
livid
lucid
lurid
rapid
solid
squid
tepid
timid
valid
vapid
vivid
candid
devoid
eyelid
florid
forbid
frigid
hybrid
liquid

One hack that does work nicely that a certain company out of Mountain View, California may want, was registered. That name being Andro.id which looks like it was acquired in April during the sunrise period. The registrant is Integrassi Solutions
