$448,551 in Sales at Heritage Domain Auction – LK.com Leads the way

April 9, 2014 by Raymond Hackney

There were 99 lots on the block today at Heritage Auctions.  28 lots sold with the top lot being LK.com at $287,500 (15% Buyer’s Premium). After LK.com, GunParts.com was the second highest sale at $57,500. 3 letter .com domains were certainly popular as they made up 9 of the 28 sales.

what’s “15% buyers premium”? they have to pay additinal 15% on top of the $287k?

No Jose I included the buyer’s premium in the total. Each sale that you see includes that 15 % in the sales price.

Heritage does pretty good, they get 15% buyer’s premium and then the seller pays 15 % sales commission.

Stay st it, you’re a trail blazer, a path finder; congratulations. It’s not easy to take domaining out there, but you’re doing it the right way. If it catches on, we all benefit. Don’t look back…

    Thanks for the coverage.
    A few key points:

    1. YES. the auction moved WAY too fast.
I’ve already talked to the executives: The next auction will have a live auction format again (with auctioneer).

    2. I feel like we had/have GREAT names priced fairly — thanks to the domainers who consigned. We need to do a bigger effort of marketing to the masses. We do A LOT of marketing, but I think the next auction we will do more.

    3. The November live auction ended with the same total ($450K range). We are going to follow up on leads and I expect post-auction activity — similar to the last event. Let’s tally up the total results in a couple of weeks when the dust settles.

Thanks again to everyone for their support and even constructive criticsm.

    Aron

Aron, Congratulations on the results it appears the auction is becoming a good venue for domainers to get some liquidity/cash in some chips even if at wholesale prices (I think).
Any particular reason DEC.com was removed ?

    thanks.
DEC.com had an issue with the consignor – and they just weren’t ready to move forward yet…
But we’re getting it ready for the next one.

Yes,this is fantastic for the Domain industry.Maybe soon Sotherby’s and some other large Auction houses, outside the Domain world will come on board.Alot of these potential buyers are really cashed up,and invest in a large range of things…and they do their homework first, they’ll come in educated(to a degree) and ready to pay.Not any “bums” among those type of investors….so good news for us all I think.
