Go Daddy BodyBuilder Ad Needed To Hit The Weights Harder

February 4, 2014 by Raymond Hackney

Go Daddy and their Super Bowl ad did not fare too well on Sunday.  According to the Admeter on USA Today the bodybuilder ad finished in the bottom five.

Dreamworks Need For Speed 1 4.34
GoDaddy Bodybuilder 4 4.04
Sprint Family Plan 3 3.96
Subway Crunch Time 2 3.91
Bud Light Cool Twist 2 3.89

Whas11.com reported that the ad was the lowest rated amongst pre-released ads at 49.7 out of 100.

The day the ad came out Michael Berkens said he did not like the ad on the Domain Sherpa show, he did not think the ad was effective. As it turned out Michael was right as most did not like the ad, it just did not resonate with many.

For those that did not see the ad here you go:

ReelSeo.com covered some ads that were never aired as they were either deemed inappropriate or they would not change to meet what censors wanted. There were a few that were a total spoof like this one for Swiffle.

Last but not least, apparently Doritos are an aphrodisiac

I would have to agree that the Godaddy ad was not particularly effective. Interestingly, Godaddy ran a Spanish version of the bodybuilder ad during one of my wife’s telenovelas last night on Telemundo. I had to explain to her what they were advertising and why a group of bodybuilders was running toward a store for tanning products. I think that ad was a very poor choice during a telenovela as many viewers were probably clueless as to what was being promoted.

Aren’t GoDaddy’s Super Bowl ads usually rated low? I don’t think it necessarily equates to how effective it is for the company.

That said, I wasn’t a huge fan of the Body Builder ad.

    Define: Low rated and Bad

Sometimes BAD is good… BAD doesn’t equate always with Low performance.

I loved the B.Dylan /Chrysler ad a piece of art IMO, although you will never caught me driving one…never ever.

I watched all the ads and not the game and then I realized for the large majority (even the ones I liked) I didn’t put attention nor I can remember as far as who was the sponsor…
(I was ‘Extreme right brained’…that day)
