Public Company Files UDRP On Generic 15 Year Old Domain SteelBuildings.com

January 29, 2014 by Michael Berkens

A UDRP was just filed on the domain name SteelBuildings.com by a public company in the metal building business:

The UDRP was filed by NCI Group, Inc. which is publicly traded as NCI Building Systems Inc. (NYSE: NCS)

“Founded in 1984, NCI is one of the top designers, manufacturers and vendors of metal coatings, components and buildings for nonresidential construction in North America.”

The comapny has a market cap of over $1.4 Billion dollars.

As for the term SteelBuildings.com, the term is very generic having its own Wikipedia entry.

The domain name has been registered since at least 1999.

The domain was owned by  Gulf American Building Systems back in 2002 with a  Derrick Bradshaw (custserv@hostexa.com) showing as the technical contact.

Around 2010 the ownership of the domain name changed to  Bradshaw Consulting Inc

The domain is currently going to a company called Atlantic Building Systems which seems to be a company that constructs metal or steel buildings,  with the administrative contact now being  Derrick Bradshaw.

I am not sure what is worse, the guy whose account Godaddy changed, and handed over to a hacker, and the poor guy lost @n twitter handle or this.

Well they might as well sure 25% of domainers, as Steel Building Products are very hot, and if you have a well sized portfolio, you probably have a few key names in this.

This is obvious greed, do not see any filings for less extensions. Big generic business here, I have purchased one of these kits, and there are many companies in the business.

Very sad day, I would hope Godaddy, Paypal, Twitter, and THE UDRP PANEL get their sh*t straight
