5.co.uk Sells For $67,611 on NameJet.com

December 11, 2013 by Michael Berkens

The domain name 5.co.uk sold for a very nice $67,611 on NameJet.com today, leading all .co.uk sales for the month on that platform.

There have been quite a few .co.uk domain names up for sale this month on Namejet.com which coupled with the announcement by Nominet that company that runs the .Uk ccTLD that they will be assigning .UK domains with the .co.uk owner getting first shot.

In other domain name auctions at Namejet.com, the domain name CustomCar.com sold for $22,600 or less than twice the amount it would cost you to reserve a one priority Donuts domain name at Godaddy.com

Yes I had to go there.

It looks like the latest Nominet announcement has impacted .co.uk values significantly since the .co.uk owners will receive both the right of first refusal for the equivalent .uk domain name and also free registration for the .uk name for five years:

@QuickFlipp Yes if it was’nt for the fact Nominet has granted rights to .co.uk owners to purchase the .uk then I would expect there would have been quite a bit of litigation when the owners of .co.uk wonder where all their webtraffic and emails are going !!
