NetworkSolutions.com Tries To Sell A Domain Owner His Own Domain

November 22, 2013 by Michael Berkens

The domain name Registrar, NetworkSolutions.com tried to sell Domain investor Abdu Tarabichi  of Domainsville.com his own domain name.

Abdu got the following email from Network Solutions in which they tried to sell him the premium domain name Halallocator.com which he already owned and was registered at Networksolutions.com

The domain name was registered in July 2013.

The email offering Abdu the opportunity to acquire a domain name he already owns came in yesterday November 21st, 2013.

It seems that NetworkSolutions.com thinks the domain owner owns a different version of the domain like a .net but clearly they are trying to sell the domain investor a domain he already owns.

Since Abdu already owns the domain Netsol is trying to sell him, it was not such a good deal for him.

I had to Google the word halal. You learn something new everyday.
    But, yea…..oops.

This actually happens to me more than once a week every week for several names I have there. I contacted them regarding the issue and they apologized and indicated there is nothing they can do about it!

No offense to Abdu, but the definition of ‘premium domain’ appears to be stretching further every day.

    Halal.com – premium. HalalFood.com – premium. HalalLocator.com – ?

Sure it wasn’t a phishing attempt posing as Network Solutions?

I listed the domain on the AfternicDLS Premium Network, so that it where NetSol knows that the domain is on the market. The issue at hand is that they don’t filter out the domain’s owner email from the list of invites they send out.

I don’t like the way they promote the domain name, especially that I could reach out to a few end users and negotiate a higher rate than the price listed on the marketplace. With the NetSol email, they entertain the price listed at the marketplace which could confuse my prospects and make me look a bit silly trying to sell for a higher rate.

    @gypsumfantastic – It’s an official NetSol email.

    Now it makes sense.

At least it wasn’t as bad of a case as with Mike’s own: http://www.thedomains.com/2013/10/16/moniker-com-sends-out-emails-promoting-biz-registrations-you-have-to-see-this-one-if-your-over-18/

Yep I’ve gotten the same stuff from Network Solutions…. I have actually received over 25 such E-mails (most saved) on the SAME DOMAIN (no kidding) which I already own for over 3 years ( and same E-mail that they are sending to is in my Whois) … a few times they sent 3 such E-Mails on different days during 1 week …. Hay Caramba !

He deserves to be sold his own domain name for using Network Solutions.

    No Offense to Abu !
Premium name is “HalalStore.com” which was registered in 2000.

@Domainer Extraordinaire – NetSol was running a promo for 50 cents per domain. Who wouldn’t grab a few domains during that period?

@charlottem – AKA Mohammad Saeed of NC – I never said it was a premium domain. NetSol puts it that way, so those are not my words. You are confused by the words of Acro above. He was commenting on NetSol’s position of classifying this as a Premium Domain.

You folks are all mistaken. The domain they are trying to sell is Hal Allocator dot com.
