TheDirectory.com Becomes The Lastest “The” Domain To Make THE News

October 23, 2013 by Michael Berkens

TheDirectory.com, Inc. (PINKSHEETS: SEEK), today announced plans to launch a national media/advertising campaign on cable and satellite television outlets as well as digital properties and radio stations broadcasting to over 100 million viewers and listeners around the world in support of its flagship Local business directory TheDirectory.com

Right on top of the DomainSherpa.com live panel from the TRAFFIC conference its an interesting announcement, as the panel at TRAFFIC spent a lot of time chatting about the value of domain name starting with the word “The”.

Obviously as we have branded our blog around a “The” domain, as TheDomains.com we still think that a lot of domains are more brandable and memorable with the word “the” in front of the domain than just the word.com without the “THE”

Here is the rest of the press release:

TheDirectory.com Founder and Chief Executive Officer Scott Gallagher commented, “I’m very excited to notify our stockholders that our plan to ‘Build’ TheDirectory.com into a national brand will effectively begin during the first quarter of 2014.

Our plan is to launch a multi-channel branding campaign that begins in Q1 and runs consistently throughout the year over various media channels including cable and satellite television, radio and of course major digital channels such as Google, Yahoo, Facebook and others.

The timing of the campaign could not be better for us as we position the Company for additional revenue and channel partner growth heading into the ad tech conference in November.” Gallagher continued, “We already connect local businesses with over 200,000 online and mobile users daily, some 75 million annually. As we begin the branding of www.TheDirectory.com and the revamp of the city guide network we fully expect that number as well as our revenue and profit levels to grow exponentially.”

“Obviously as we have branded our blog around a >>The<>THE<<"
Bullshit. You registered TheDomains.com because Domains.com was already registered and you did not bother to try and acquire it. That's what I believe.

    Gregorio

    So I bought TheDomains.com for $1,190 and Domain.com sold for $1M

Spending a $1 Million for a domain for a blog is a bit steep.

    Hello MHB,

In this particular case for a Blog address I agree with you.

Gratefully, Jeff Schneider (Contact Group) (Metal Tiger)

At this timeline any & all multi-channel branding campaign under the .com is Good. I wish them every success.

Does anyone here care to discuss actual businesses that descriptive domains can create or is this just about flipping digital assets? I bought the domain TheDirectory.com because of what I thought the business could become not to make a few bucks flipping a domain. That sounds rather boring. And we are on the way to millions…..

Just curious what people are thinking.

    Best of luck either way

    Scott

Nice domain, congrats 0n the buy

Some of the readers here are into flipping domains, but many of us are not, personally I’m a long term investor, others in the space are into developing out sites on great domains and then there are people like yourself that engage with us once you find an article of interest to you.

    Quite a varied audience here

    Feel free to discuss
