BulletproofVest.com Acquired By End user For $7,500

August 12, 2013 by Michael Berkens

PriveCo Inc. a company that makes Bullet Proof Vest a product called Bullsafe announced today that they have acquired the domain name  BulletproofVest.com “for $7,500 from a domain name investor”.

What a bargain.

According to the press release “PriveCo has purchased premium domain names for up to $1,000,000” in the past.

“PriveCo has run internet web stores since 1998, and understands the importance of simple, recognizable, and easily-searchable domain names. The acquisition of BulletProofVest.com is just one more thing that establishes BulletSafe as a reputable player in the defensive protection industry”.

The company pretty much goes on to brag on the purchase they just made which I agree was a very good buy for them:

“What is the value of these type-in visitors? ”

“Advertisers appear to be paying from $0.50-$1.00 per visitor for bulletproof vest related terms. Buying the BulletproofVest.com name buys people interested in this product forevermore. For example, if ten people per day type in the name BulletproofVest.com, totaling 3,650 visitors per year, that would be worth approximately $2700 each year”.

“Online retailers and manufacturers have a history of buying multiple domain names to boost visibility and sales. Domains such as BulletProofVests.com and BodyArmor.com are owned by manufacturers of more expensive protective gear.

    $7,500 is cheap, great deal.

Why would someone sell this domain for this cheap?

The seller knew their stuff, but the price on this deal is missing a 0.

The previous owner seems to have, and had some very nice domains, and the domain was parked, so they were somewhat savvy… I really can’t figure this one out?

What would’ve been a good sale price, MHB? $30K?

They probably could have got $30k on namejet

The domain had a reserve last year at $10k min and never hit it. Anyone here could have bid on it at Toby and David Clements auction and they didn’t.

Now everyone says it was cheap? lol

Ryan – at NJ the domain would have got only to 10K-12K.
I am with Tony – “A” buyer would paid at least $30K.

The “Right” buyer – which is what this business is all about – would have paid $75K-$125K

This name could have been bought in 3 different auctions in the past year and half but didn’t even come close to the reserve of only 10k. I heard they would have sold it back then for under 10k if someone would have offered something decent. It was in Clements auction, Webfest and Traffic. If it was such a steal why didn’t someone buy it then?

semibulletproofvest.com is still available for reg fee and with a godaddy coupon it means 99 cents. and isn’t that what they really are. these are not the droids we’re looking for. and that’s all i have to say about that.

    So Rat –
Do they have “family packs” – with a child version for school – and a child version for the park and a child version for the movie theater and shopping mall and Adult versions for the same including sports arenas and simply going for a walk to the local store or based or what part of the city or state you are traveling to ?
I am thinking like the “Chicago 24/7”, the “Detroit 24/7 PLUS” or the “Compton Classic”

Will they come an effectiveness warranty ?

Somehow – sadly – I am reminded of the “All in the family” episode where Archie Bunker’s solution to stopping airline highjacks – by giving everyone a gun when they get on the plane.

My point is huge business !!!

That’s a mighty fine name. Congrats to the buyer!

Where BulletProofVests.com (plural) appears to be a live operational – my experience says that the singular in this case is already getting 1 mistake typin for every 10 that end up at the plural site. And add to that many folks are simply typing in the singular as their final destination.

In the end the plural is likely the “right” buyer but I guess they were not in the auction – or simply did not care – but still for only $7500 – WOW. Regardless that is very good quality targeted traffic for any firearms / ammunition, protection website.

The real question based on this analysis …Is a 10-15 times ROI too low for domain investors in this current market? We thought it was a great name at great price and it was marketed heavily to end users and investors (many who were watching the auction) and we were marketing it just a month after the sandy hook ordeal when there was a real heightened awareness as well. Often timing is more important with End users and we did talk with a lot them but was also surprised that was not scooped up by a investor. The buyer got a great deal.
