Back To The Future: UDRP Filed On GongShow.com

July 23, 2013 by Michael Berkens

Long before American Idol, and America’s Got Talent, there was The Gong Show.

The last time original episode on of the Gong show appeared on Network Television it was 1989,  well before the Internet, and well before the 1st domain name was registered.

Today an UDRP was filed on the domain name  GongShow.com.

The domain name GongShow.com has an  original registration date of October 7th 1999.

The domain is currently under privacy at domain.com but was owned as recently as 2012 by a Brian Gong of Salinas, CA since at least 2005.

The domain does not currently resolve and Screenshots.com doesn’t have any entries for the domain.

In a way like America’s Got Talent where the judges have big ‘X”‘s, the Gong Show featured a big  Gong where the judge could stop horrible amateur act in their tracks by just hitting a big gong.

We will see the if this UDRP gets a big Gong or Big “X” or wins the day in a few months.

The name was registered by Brian Gong up until 11-15-2012 and since the expiration was 10-07-2012 its safe to assume that he didn’t renew or forgot to renew but then on 11-16-2012 the name changes ownership but here is where it gets odd. It was registered in Dubai, Dubai with a Florida zip code and a Oregon phone number and than 5 days later it goes into privacy.
If I would guess the complainant would be Gongshow. ca which redirects to their dotcom at GongShowGear. com which has 100,000 followers on Facebook.

I used to watch it with my Grandfather when I was a kid. I used to love all those old shows. Great memories with ol Grandpa, every Friday night was the Dukes of Hazard, The Love Boat and Fantasy Island.
