Japan’s Largest Registrar GMO To Use SnapNames Exclusively To Send All Dropping Domains

June 26, 2013 by Michael Berkens

SnapNames®, a KeyDrive S.A. company announced today that GMO Internet Group, the largest domain registrar in Japan, entered into an exclusive partnership to provide all non-renewed domain names on the SnapNames marketplace for purchase on an exclusive basis.

GMO Internet has over 90% share of generic Top-Level Domains (gTLDs) in the Japanese domain name market.

“We are pleased to announce that Japan Registry has chosen SnapNames as a strategic partner to market and sell their non-renewed domains,” said Craig Snyder, CEO of Moniker and SnapNames. ”

This partnership represents an important milestone in our global distribution strategy as we strive to make the right domains available to businesses worldwide. The market continues to be hungry for selection and access to great domains. Working with a well-respected market leader like Japan Registry, together we are able to deliver valuable non-renewed domain names previously not available to the market.”

This should bring a lot more exclusive domain name inventory to SnapNames.com

I tried going to SnapNames after reading this article and their website was down/broken. It is back up and running properly now, but that little hiccup doesn’t really instill confidence in me.
